WHEN will HAM take up the challenge?

VER has asked HAM if he would like to prove once and for all that he is a better driver by a driving comparison back to back in some yet to be decided Merc machinery but preferably an 11.
It would be no skin of Wolff's nose to arrange a little meet up like this and would end all the meaningless polls meant to detract from this by a well known poster on B/Post
So far Wolff and HAM have done their best to belittle this reasonable request to end the often asked question and brush it under the carpet.
So, will it happen after all or will the excuses pile up like i.e. car not available, no time, too busy, against the rules lol or **just-plain-chicken**.

Welcome to National Obtuse Week.
Todays category is the Comments made by Max Verstappen in a Formula One press conference.
This a difficult category as the comments made were fairly retarded.
But the two runaway leaders are making an exceptional job of totally misunderstanding and misrepresenting the comments to showcase their dreary efforts to diminish the ability of another driver.

Subscribe for further developments as the flogging of this particular deceased equine is expected to continue for some time yet.

I think HAM can take any “challenge” from VER seriously when VER earns multiple WDC wins, and comes close to 90 race wins. He is not even in the same league as HAM as he has very little hardware to show for his time in F1 so far.

Otherwise this “challenge” is a joke and deserves a lough.

I think he's done no worse than Hamilton's first few years.

Don't forget, Max is not in a leading car, the Mercedes is.
The McLaren of Lewis' first 2 years was far more a front runner than the Red Bull has been the last few years.

Exactly. In equal cars, Max would eat louis’s lunch. All day.

All I have to say to this is look at the last race. Max span out not once, but twice. Hamilton did not. Better driver makes all the difference.

Really?
Hamiltons first 9 races with near zero F1 seat time were all podiums considerably outscoring the then current 2DWC Alonso.
He would have won the 2007 DWC bar a gearbox fault at the last race. He then went on to win the 2008 DWC.

There is literally no comparison with Verstappen who in his first two years against Ricciardo didn't do so well.
The first mark of a true great is beating your team mate from the very first races.

And after 5 years he still manages to not win races he should have (see Istanbul) because he lacks the instinctive talent to control the car at the limit of adhesive and more importantly he lacks racing intelligence.

OMG. This is amazing. There are still people banging on about how Max is better than 7ewis. Here is a quote from a gentleman on another forum who isn't even a 7ewis fan:

"If you can still doubt Hamiltons greatness after his Turkey win. You are unable to see things objectively and lost any value in your argument."

Tracks that suit the Red Bull:

Singapore
Hungary
Mexico
Austria
Monaco

Number of times that Max has raced at these tracks in total: About 20+

Number of pole positions Max has: 2
Number of fastest laps Max has: 9

Max hasn't earned the right to talk smack about Lewis. He is a fast driver but mediocre racer. The RESULTS say this. The results against RIC are very damning. If he doesn't rid himself of his demons and stop worrying about Lewis and worry more about improving himself (as 7ewis always does) he will be yet another footnote in the history of F1.

And that would be a shame.

P.S. HAM lives rent free in Max's head as well as every Max fan on the planet. HAM has a global AirBNB network in the heads of you guys. Kick him out by writing Max and RBR and tell them to concentrate on their own game rather than worrying about someone else's game. You can never win your game when you are thinking about your opponents game. So basic.

I'd also like to point out that if you think allowing a competitor (notably, your closest competitor recently) to get in your car and drive, then you know absolutely nothing about racing. You don't just hand the "keys" over to your competition and potentially give away the knowledge that you, as a team, have cultivated over the years. That's why this will never happen.

This is the dumbest argument going on this board.

MK,
You have expounded on THE most important aspect of competition....any type of competition (football/baseball/tennis/track/golf, etc) and that is the fact that the results of your abilities are won and lost in your head.

As you stated, all of this focus on your competitor has immediately DQ'd you from ...achieving your best potential,

Drop the mic.

This is spot-on....an analogy is Microsoft giving their software secrets to a competitor, Fidelity Investments providing their proprietary financial planning software and their client list to a competitor....etc etc etc.

It's the last grasp at straws to validate their choice in a driver to follow and "talk" him up.

The only thing I've heard as pathetic is the "Button Championship". Since Jenson Button scored more points than Lewis over their 3 years together, Jenson beat Lewis in their time together at McLaren, ergo, he is the better driver.

The mental gymnastics the people go through to denigrate HAM is absolutely shocking!!

Cheers-mk

No. We don't. Nobody, except the team, knows everything that's on that car.

Like I said, if you actually think its a reasonable for a championship team to hand over their equipment to a competitor, then you really know nothing about racing. All your posts have been alluding to it, but this one really hits it home.

The rain was a true equalizer among differing chassis. I think another shining example of that was our old dear friend Vettel.

While from my vantage point it seems talk from both sides of the mouth to admit Vettel is getting the shaft from the scudaria folks and that is why he can’t win, yet Hams talent isn’t because of a car and somehow supersedes a chassis is beyond entertaining to watch.

That said and back to my original point, many out there, or you could argue all, had a sub optimal setup for conditions yet many showed their talent to drive around it. Ham included.

Max needs to up his game and get some results before making a challenge like that.

Prove it on the race track where it counts. He can whine all he wants until then he is the one making excuses.

Has a challenge like this ever happened? Exactly. There aren't any excuses, it's just stupid in the first place. No company is putting their machinery on the line and risk millions in damage, and who will pay for the track rental, salary for everyone in the race team required to run the car?

Even if it were to happen in some make believe world and Max losses, then you'll just say Max wasn't familiar with the car, didn't know the controls/etc. Perhaps then you'll demand Max gets Merc training and practice with the car. See how ridiculous that sounds?

I don't pertain to know everything about F1 cars or their secrets, no one should except if they are involved with the tech and construction and they don't have to hide any secrets, after all..there is an engine cover over the motor!!
