Horrible Main Gauge Cluster

The 1 thing I really dislike about my new G29 is the graphic that they picked for the main display. I get that BMW use the same style graphic in the new 3 and 8 series cars - but I hate it. The reverse sweeping Tach is silly and the really small font they picked for the MPH indication is just dumb. Anyone aware of software that we can use to change this display to something else?

The new cluster in the new X3M is so much better....

Yep, this is a big criticism of every modern BMW. They could have at least offered different configurations for the display and the way its designed, similar to well... pretty much every manufacturer right now.

Hopefully this can be something updated through software, as I'd love a display that mimics an analogue gauge cluster.

The X3M tachometer doesn't have a yellow/red line on the gauge?

I think its because the car's engine isn't running, then the redline would show up in the gauges as it adjusts as the engine warms

Yeah, I forgot that this is (I think) a fully electronic display.

I agree. Since it is all software, I don't understand why BMW doesn't offer a more traditional option for those of us who would prefer it. But maybe the new BMW design leaders who have given us the ginormous grills think that they know better than their customers (or, if it keeps up, former customers).

With the bimmercode app, you can actually swap the display for a different design - at the moment you get the option of the M display, or Alpina display, they're still similar, but different styling. Hopefully they will unearth more options in a future update.

I'll try and find some time this weekend to swap them out and take pictures of each one if you want to see them?

Actually, I would like to see them. If you don’t mind posting them?

Here you go - M display doesn't change with driving mode, Alpina does, so here's the 3 Alpina, and the M.

Please do

I want round dials. Hate those weird shapes moving in opposite directions. What the hell was BMW thinking? Video game?
