The Supra is considerably cheaper too. Personally, I think the Z4 is overpriced by about 15% and it's not holding value well at all.

And the ones you can find are almost as expensive as new. Most of the used examples I see are about the same price I negotiated on my 2021 build.

If you compare what you get with similar models by Audi and Porsche the Z4 is clearly undervalued, and rare. You end up with all kinds of expensive crap with a boxster when you try to build it to a Z4 equal regarding options. Starting build price is also much higher. https://www.porsche.com/usa/models/7...s/718-boxster/

I started my search looking for a used one and realized it was a waste of time. To your pont, for a few thousand more I got a new one vs a 2019 with no options..

I read a couple articles that the Z4 has a target on its back and that 2024 will be the last year of production. Hopefully they'll rethink.

I just checked with my dealer and none are available around here, and ordering would still mean "several months" before I'd get it, not by spring for sure.

I recently checked trade in value of a Z4 (mine) and it wasn't good. In fact, it was horrible. I realize that doesn't dictate the rest of the market, but it's all the indication I need to hang on to mine.

Mine is a 2020. But, I'm also in Canada so pricing will be different.

Yep the Z4 is a bargain compared to the competition IMO

Just picked mine up yesterday. Ordered early October. So you might have time for some great spring weather if you order now! Good luck!

Dealer still saying it will be months. Spring is 4 weeks away, so I gave up on the Z4 and bought a Miata. The wait killed it for me, but I also wanted a manual. I would have bought the Z4 anyway, but the Miata will be fun. I also looked at Boxsters. I wanted a Spyder, but as with the Z4, getting one is not easy without being willing to wait.

Still have the M8 for speed and a 911 Turbo S, so the need for a Z4 or Boxster was not that strong vs the Miata. Really just wanted a fun convertible. Might do some autocrosses or take it to the track.

Anyway, enjoy your Z4s, especially knowing that there are probably a lot of people who, were they easily available, would have one, but do not.

There seems to be quite a few new ones still available on Autotrader.ca. Mostly 2020, but some 2021 as well.

The closest M40i to me is 215 miles away. Even if I went for a 30, which was not my preference, there has been nothing near me. I called on a couple of the 40s and they were not available even though they were on autotrader.

If I was desperate for a Z4, I would compromise more, but to not get the model, color, or options I want and then having to pay up for it was too much.

there are 5 on autotrader in all of BC;

- a used 2020 M40i for $72,995 with 9,850kms

- a new 2020 M40i for $79,307

- a new 2021 M40i for $83,345

- and a new 2021 30i for $72,695

strangly enough, the two new 2021's are both at my local dealer and the M40i is identical to mine; same colors, wheels, trim, etc.

Across Canada, there are 31 Z4 G29's on Autotrader, only 5 of them are used (one more but it has front end damage);

2020 Z4 M40i with 9850 kms; $72,995.00
2020 Z4 M40i with 9139 kms; $75,899.00
2020 Z4 M40i with 10,088 kms; $75,800.00
2020 Z4 M40i with 6,226 kms; $75,777.00
2020 Z4 30i with 13,750 kms; $62,495.00

My car had an MSRP of $84,445 and I paid $81,445 (plus the usual fees and taxes) and I've had it for 21 months, so I'm not seeing much depreciation.

....not that I care as I plan on keeping the car for a good long while but thought I'd check just for interest's sake.

Remember those are the prices they are asking; who knows what they will actually sell for.
Also used prices may be propped up by the time it takes to get a new one and the nicer weather coming.

In the UK the book price on resale is massively off the market rate. My 2019 M40i, fully optioned with 9k miles has a trade value of £28k but the going rate for higher miles and less spec models is £36k and up. The UK market for convertibles is seasonal as you would imagine with prices peaking in May/June and bottoming out in October/November. As for Value and equivalent age/milage Supra is still in excess of £47k currently in the UK.

Of course. Most are at dealers and you can expect 5% off IME.

As mine is mint (stored for half it's life due to circumstances beyond my control) and has half the mileage of the ones listed for sale, if I were to sell it based on those numbers, it would be on the high end or at least $75,000. Since I paid $81,445, that is only a depreciation of $6,445 (9%) in almost two years.

With only one other used M40i listed in the entire province and only 4 in the whole country it would appear to be a sellers market.

....all academic to me; I have no interest in selling - I'm just shocked at the high resale value......must be Covid fallout.
