I thought I would share the timeline for my in process Z4 build. As of today it was dispatched from the factory and I’m hoping when I call the BMW Genius line they can give me a ship name and a rough ETA for PCD pickup in Spartanburg. I have been really happy with the support of the BMW Genius line. One person I spoke with commented that these are the most enjoyable calls they get, and everyone I spoke with told me to feel free to call as often as I’d like to get updates. I recommended that they add push text notifications to the MyGarage app so we can get notified when status changes.

My Timeline:
3/18 - Negotiation complete and deposit placed at dealership. Impatiently waiting on a build allocation.
3/25 - Build allocation assigned. Order Received and tracking in MyBMW. I was told I had a build slot for week 18 (first week in May).
4/16 - Production Begins - I was shocked to see the build started 3 weeks early
4/22 - Exterior assembly begins
4/23 - In Paint Booth
4/26 - Entering Assembly Line
4/27 - Quality Check
4/27 - Awaiting Carrier Assignment
5/4 - Dispatched from Factory

Being able to track this really adds to the experience for me. Can’t wait for my day at the performance center.

I ordered one as well and it took 9 days to go from order acceptance to a production slot and 11 days to start. I'll continue tracking, but what I read from from these posts, I think I'll have mine mid to end of June.

Maybe ours will be on the same ship, I know mine was in production around 4/7. (I neglected to request tracking info as I'll have OCD watching it, so I'm just waiting for a surprise call from the dealer that it arrived.)

I’m getting ready to list my 2014 650i Convertible and every time I look at it I think, maybe I should keep it too... It’s good to hear that you don’t miss yours. Hopefully I wont regret letting mine go either.

Thanks. I was thinking that others could benefit from some real data. I’m really looking forward to PCD delivery. I’m flying my son down to go with me. My wife graciously let him take her place.

As for tracking, I spoke with the BMW Genius folks today and they said it could be 7-10 days before it gets assigned to a ship. I’ll post the ship info once I have it. I’m hoping to have it before the end of May. Unfortunately my OCD forces me to check the status multiple times a day. My wife said I should just wait until next week to check the status. You would think after almost 39 years of marriage...

This must be my lucky week! My car moved from dispatched to at the port in one day:

I appreciate your tracking. Based on it, I believe the Exterior Assembly start should be 10 MAY and with any luck dispatched at Port by the end of this month.

I am officially “In Transit” on the vessel Sirius Highway. I’ve started tracking it on the MarineTraffic App, but I haven’t figured out how to show the entire route all the way to the port in Charleston SC. The BMW Genius told me the estimated arrival date is Friday May 28th, so I’m figuring the first week in June for PCD.

Congrats, you're first week of June is a realistic estimate. Been shipping Gas Turbines from Turkey recently and 28-30 days has been the norm across the pond from there. I envision yours would be 18-25 days as it is closer to the Atlantic and will have less stops in the channel.

After a bunch of failed searches I was able to track down the shipping company and finally find a schedule for the vessel. It looks like it is scheduled to arrive in SC on May 27th and depart on the 28th. I’m not sure what the lead time is from offloading in SC to PCD.

Based on my timing of transport and PCD you'll probably be scheduled for your delivery around June 21st. It was about six weeks from status "INTRANSIT" to PCD. The Summer Solstice would be a great day to take delivery! Safe transit.

Thanks for the chart. From that I believe I can expect mine to hit Galveston around 25 JUN. I might have it before the Fourth of July. A tru independence day.

Placed my order mid February and I'm anticipating it will arrive the first week of June (California) so your timeline is a little ahead of mine!

Congrats. I'm not too sure about West Coast deliveries, but I'm pulling for you to receive it before the end of this month.
