I made a similar transition from an F30 340i 6MT to the Z4. The Z4's automatic works great and is a fine transmission. It's just a fun car.

Yes my last two services they gave me another 440I both automatics the most recent service though was the newer model with the 382 hp instead of the 332 that mine has. And what a noticeable difference can’t wait to try it in a lighter smaller car

I drove it fast from the beginning with no issues.
I had a long discussion with the owner of my local repair shop who babied my 2004 CLK500 cabriolet for many years and who specializes in German cars and he says it isn't BS.
I had a similar discussion with my local dealer and he doesn't believe in the break in period. So I guess we'll have to see. I didn't "beak in" my Audi and it's on 200k miles…

-I leave the house in Sport mode for my short twisty drive to the highway and into the merge.
-Comfort mode on the highway (most of my driving)
-Switch to Sport on the off ramp.

Currently at 27k miles...coming up on 3rd service and preparing to order first set of replacement tires. Still rides like a dream.

Considering moving into Michelin Pilot All-seasons due to my lengthy and mostly year-round commuting. The Pilot Sports really suck in the heavy rain and I hate having to commute in my truck on bad weather days.

10,000 I think

Got mine at 6,700 (when I bought it) since it was a CPO dealer demo and they did it for me complimentary before I drove it away.

If I were to ever build a car again. I would definitely got do the PDC. There are certain features that a n00b like me don't fully understand and would LOVE to just have someone sit with me one day and teach me things like Launch Control and stuff like that. I'm sure there are a million features that I just don't use or don't even realize exist.

I wonder how my M40 would do in sport+ mode? Got 100 miles left to complete break in.

I know the feeling as I was on I-95 in the express lane the other day in Comfort, hit 92 mph and it was just over 2000 rpms. The car felt like it was doing 60.

Out of break in and have opened it up a little. It takes very little effort to go from a crawl to a full out sprint and all in comfort mode at that.
