I have verified for sure that all pops and gurgles in my S30i are from ASD. In any mode, manual or auto, with ASD disabled, there is only normal engine & turbo sound, which honestly, for a 4 banger, sounds better than any other 4 cylinder I have driven.

Yesterday I had it in Sport Plus mode and was driving and it had quite a very loud SNAP. So much so it scared me lol.. it sounded like a backfire or a gunshot. Even my son was like.. "what was that?"

Wasn't very high RPM either, so I'm not really sure why it would have done that. Ya'll experience this? Gurbles and pops sure, but loud snaps...that seems out of place.

It does happen - almost like a gunshot. I don't think it's intended as I mentioned before. Quite startling, though.

I have used Sport Plus for about 5 minutes in the entire time I owned this car. It just turns this car into too much of an animal and is too aggressive on the throttle IMO. So I do Sport and then push the gear selector to the left.
