The GT3 driver was either slow or not trying, but yeah it certainly meets or beats an M2 out there!

1:43 is pretty decent for a stock z4 m40i. I had a similar time back in July at Laguna. Tires, brake pads/fluid, and a little more camber up front would make it perfect

I’m curious if it makes a difference to hotlap with the top up. I didn’t care enough at the time to do it. Top down is much more enjoyable

Thanks for posting that, love watching the Z make it's rounds. I'd love an opportunity to run Laguna, but definitely with better tires than the conti's that came on the Z.

Very nice! Thanks for posting this.
This car can be tricky handling at the limit, you can see it when your friend has to make some quick corrections ...the suspension loads up too quickly and then releases it all with sharp rebound. More compression would greatly improve its handling. But for street use, the Z4's suspension is very good, and obviously, as your friend demonstrated, it can work just fine on a track. Charles

Ok, slightly on-topic. For those that have tracked their cars, how do the rules work for HPDE and up with a convertible?
The HPDI at my closest track (Corvette track) welcomes convertibles, but the HDPE states "Convertibles MUST HAVE SCCA legal rollover protection to participate in HPDEs". While doing a track course in my Fiat Spider, they required the top to be up, but it was in their own cars and a follow the leader, so not exactly full out. Is this track specific? Does the Z4 meet that requirement? Has anyone any experience with this?
