Thanks for posting! Can't wait to see pricing...

A little disappointing in that I can't get HK sound standalone. For the 30i, I would basically need M-Sport, Premium, and Exec... such i$ life in BMW land!

This is how it is now. One of the many reasons why I left BMW after 15 years. If I want just a few basic options I'm forced to get a bunch of packages that would add $10k to the price. That's how a 320i can be $50k+ and have 184hp...lame.

Compared to Porsche where you need to spend 50% of the car's price on options just to get it where it should be?

Jeez I thought comfort access was standard on all new cars. Guess not. Cool that there's an alcantara/leather option. Hopefully that finds its way to other models too.

In the UK that's known as the Thieves' All-Access Pass, and one of the first things people here do with Comfort Access is disable it

That sucks. But then, your BMWs are cheaper than anywhere else in the world...

The HK stereo in Z4s elsewhere is part of an Open-Air pack, which is just 750€ and gets you HK, DAB and a heated steering wheel. A little bizarre. Anyway, at least it's cheap and it's irrespective of the rest of the specification.

In Germany, this makes a base 30i with HK just over $60,000. The message hasn't changed for 30 years or more: Pay German prices and you can have German flexibility.

Previous gen was the opposite. What do I think this one will be a hit? Also why not Supra? cheaper but same platform and same engine... yes it is Toyota interior breaks etc but it's cheaper...

60k you pay for the car covers university and free medical care for your kids and family no? 50k here is just a car.... college tuition and medical insurance is extra....

All mainstream manufacturer's have gone this route. I just ordered a Ford Ranger and it cost me quite a bit to get the couple of mandatory options that I wanted.

Same here. Just bought a Cadillac XT4 for my wife. Starting MSRP in the mid-30’s. A couple of must have comfort and safety option packages later we are in mid-50’s territory.

Tell me about it. I get my 991.2 GTS Cabriolet that starts at $133,000 up to $199,270 because I load it with the stuff it's supposed to have from jump.

At least in the Porsche configurator.

Actually, it is paid for in part by car sales because you guys ALWAYS forget the fact that the posted prices in Germany have a 19% sales tax included.
And to help the point that it's not BMW but rather the government that makes the prices so different...
If you take a base M4 Coupe in the US and Germany...
US price is $69,150
Germany is 79,100€ but that includes 12,629€ in taxes.
So the real base prices from BMW...
US: $69,150
Germany: 66,471€
Exchange rates fluctuate so there's no real equal comparison.

Didn’t know you could disable it. Through the dealer or coding?

Still not sure how we are almost in 2019 and comfort access isn’t standard.

I love the options, esp the 18" 770 wheel set. Even this 2 liter must be a blast to drive.

Won't the 6MT option be available?
