Performance Center Delivery

My baby was on display and ready for delivery. After a morning of ripping around in the Performance Center Z4 M40i and a hot lap from a professional driver I got the operating details of my car.

Sadly the weather was too threatening for a drive through the Smokies so we headed out for a back roads drive to Augusta. Even though I babied the car I did see the tach break the 4500 limit once. It got there really quick!

Lots to fine tune in the car setup for a really custom feel. Can't wait to spend some garage time with it adjusting and optimizing the car.

PCD was well worth it. BMW treats you right!

Outstanding. Same spot my car was in. I think they like Z4s.

I love that the sign says "do not touch" and you take a picture touching the car. Your car, you do what you want!

I'm glad you enjoyed that. I've got a ton of pictures through the years of me pretending to do what the sign says not to do. My little poke at The Man!

Really fine!

After 3 or weeks at the port ours is finally on the boat. With my luck they'll re-route it thru the Suez canal.

It really seems you've been hitting all the hurdles in getting a car! If they send your car via the Suez you better cancel the order - just isn't meant to be. You might need to worry about the Bermuda Triangle. Good luck!

Thanks for your suggestion! Called our Genius and he linked me to a Panana registered ship that is expected to dock in Brunswick (Georgia?) April 6. Finally!

Are you doing a PCD? I thought Texas cars would all go to Galveston? Guess they just wanted to get you on a boat and they'll truck the car to Texas.

Taking delivery at San Antonio. BTW, that dealership is the largest in the U.S. with the cheapest coffee bar too. At least they could serve margaritas! Service floors are spotless, span 3 floor levels half the size of a football field. IN/OUT is like leaving a large concert - continuous.

How was the overall experience? Lodging, transportation, performance driving, country side, etc?

Even though it's one helluva drive back home I'm now considering flying into S.C. and doing this.

The whole package is first class & would highly recommend it. Personally live close enough to drive both ways. Whoever is my "guest" drives us down & we make the run home together.

Only thing that sucks is the interstate construction around Charlotte NC. Was there for my first & last delivery, be there for future ones.

Next up my daughter is getting a pig snout 6MT M4 Convertible to replace her current one.

Depending on where you live some guys take a western route home & do one of the US's best fun roads "The Tail Of The Dragon" at Deals Gap through the Blue Ridge mountains along the NC/TN border.

Have taken 5 PCD's since 2011.

I took a plane to SC when I did PCD in 2017. BMW picked me up at the airport in an X5 and brought me to the hotel. They drove me to the Performance Center the following morning with the rest of our group. Quite first-class as BEAR-AvHistory noted. I made a little road trip out of the way back, going from SC to PA in two days' travel time.

Nice to put a face with the name. Your car is gorgeous. How did the hot lap in the M40 compare to your 30i?
