0-60 Times? 3.5 seconds??

First car and driver reported getting 3.7 seconds back in 2020, and now for 2023 they got a 3.5? That's astonishing but surely they tried their hardest to get that number?

Has anyone here actually done legit 0-60s and timed them? I have a JB4 tune on mine which I slapped on from a previous model, and since it's plugged into to the OBD port and tuned,I got a reading of 3.3 once before but I think that may be off by as much as 0.3 seconds so maybe I was 3.6, and that was a custom tune that approaches 420-440whp and 480-500wtq.

Car and driver always gets extremely low 0-60 numbers, unless of course, it really is this quick. We are talking supercar performance here (from 5-10 years ago)

Yes it’s true, with a perfect launch this car can obtain those numbers stock.
But it’s difficult due to the tire size, adding more power as you have will hurt 0-60 if it’s spinning. But your added power will be evident from a roll once traction isn’t a limiting factor.

I bet in optimal weather, at a drag strip, the Z4M40i could sneak into the high 11’s. It’s trap speed of 116 shows it’s theoretically capable.

They are not commonly drag raced so the sample size is too small.

Its my understanding that the C&D number is achieved with a 1 ft roll out which typically saves a couple of tenths....

Big difference between the strip & street. First thing is the car is moving before the clock starts (1 foot rollout) at the track & this can be gamed, don't ask or I would have to kill you. . The track also has traction compound in the starting area.

Lastly C&D runs the times through an algorithm for weather, altitude etc to insure all the times are on the same base so they can be compared. The times/speed in the magazine are not the raw data from the track clocks. That's why I like the Dragy numbers.

Its pretty hard to make 11.9 with a 116mph but I know it can be done. I used to run 12.0 @ 116mph in a 335is 7DCT JB-4 starting in 2nd gear on occasion.

Also had a lot more 12.1 to 12.5's @116mph so its a hard thing to really quantify. Have no idea what the 0-60 times were.

I have one car RWD that can run 0-60 in 3.2 or less most of the time on the street but it has very traction oriented tires. WOT is traction limited before well into 3rd gear.

The problem is that they can't get even close to similar numbers even with the updated Supra. It makes no sense. Is the supra just worse at traction in the back?

Real world time on a 600 foot track, on stock tires in the summer was 4.2 0-60. Track surface was pretty good, no burnouts or anything to heat the tires and I wasn't trying to set any records, just satisfying curiosity. I'm pretty sure with the JB+ set for 93 octane and a little prep work, I could have run 3.6 or 3.7. I think if everything was perfect, it might break into 11s, but the stock turbo is pretty weak at the top end. I think your readings are pretty accurate with a JB4 tune.

With a JB4, Pure800 turbo and decent downpipe and charge pipe, I'm pretty sure it's 3.3 0-60 and 11.4 quarter mile. They really should make an electric turbo for the B58.

Good example of that I was saying. Both these cars run 118mph. One of them kills the clocks 60foot, 0-30, 0-60, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile.

M4C VS Hellcat SRT

BTW the times & speed are not that quick for a M4C.
