Also, as far as the BMW vs Toyota DNA, what you want and what you get are two different things. It is already common knowledge that Toyota and BMW have been working on two shared platforms. From the info we have so far, the Z5 and Supra share the same platform----you know that sexy FT-1 concept that Toyota had? That supposedly shows what the Supra may look like (with toned down styling cues). If you are likely going to be switching to Porsche or Merc then why complain? |

I understand why they would go back with rag tops, but rag tops is just so ugly....

Hopefully waiting for another e85/e86 lineup. Nothing against convertibles, but they have never been my thing, which is why I'm not too keen on e89. And if they bring back a legit m coupe, I will do my best to convince the wife it's a necessity and I desperately need it...or else I'll leave her

I guess I will just keep it forever. Maybe add an M4 coupe to my garage. |

I don't own a Z4 but I think it gets an unnecessary bad rap, BMW never really pushed the car very hard IMO. If they made (or requested) dealers to display it as a halo car, I think it would sell better. I also don't believe I've ever seen a Z4 advertisement, paper, billboards, TV ads, etc.
At any rate, I hope the new Z5 and upcoming Z3 and Z1 are smashing successes!

So im guessing fwd by next gen with a horrible numb eps?? No match for the porcher...as usual. I can tell you right now how it drives. Nice weight distribution. Steering heavy and numb. Very comfortable ride. No match for cayman/boxter...even ttrs will probably be a better drivers car than this. No surprises from bmw in the dynamics department. I am sure it wont tempt me to trade my gorgeous z4 m coup

Z4
I'm still not a big fan of the name especially even numbers are now supposed to represent the sporty coupe lines in BMW. Z4 makes more sense than Z5 IMO.

All I see in that profile shot is a large S2000. I kind of dig it.

Finally! Can't wait to see and learn more fast model needs 6mt this time around ffs
Soft top provides a weight advantage, but the more important benefit is space IMO. The hard top takes up a good portion of the trunk when lowered. The soft top in the E85 doesn't impact the trunk at all whether it's up or down. |

The price has to be right. The Z5 better look as good as the F Type if the goal is to make an expensive weekend car. It must handle like the BMWs of old and be pretty quick as well. MT will be a must. I actually like the look of the Z4, but the Z5 will have to be a little more manly looking for guys to want to buy it.

I'll say this though, I think that the Z4 should have just come with a fixed roof with the same look, with a ragtop option. It would have looked beastly as an M coupe, like a toned down version of the S4 race car. |

Well I would be lying if I didn't say I was curious to see what they come up with. Soft top=lighter, hard top =rigidity when top is up... And like someone has already mentioned MT would be a must
