I don't know why so many people knock the current Z4. It looks infinitely better than an slk or tt. Is it overpriced? Absolutely. But I don't mind that they're uncommon. Of course, I'm biased as I'm on my third one. I have the M sport package and M6 reps and it looks pretty damn sporty to me!
That being said, I would kill for a redesigned Z4M coupe. I hope BMW listens!

personally, i could not care less about weight savings or center of gravity.. if i wanted a track star, i wouldnt have bought a z4. more importantly, soft tops are such an eye sore and more prone to theft. |

Toyota has set a timeline for the launch of thier GT86 and larger Lexus coupe (6 series rival shown in Detroit). Both cars are parallel with BMW sister platforms. |

The Lexus LF-C has nothing to do with the joint venture with BMW.

for those of us that like converts, like hardtops, and do not like cloth tops... looks like the future may not hold that option for us with BMW... although, it is/was just a rumor:

SCOTT26 earlier you gave us these renderings/drawings. Are they still accurate? I really love the design, it would be by far the most beautiful car in the segment

What do you mean "for its time"? It's still a sharp drive compared to the current Z4 and 3 series.

I've been thinking about this all morning, and it may just be lust clouding my thought process, but I bet this is how things shake out:
- z5 looks like the sketches above -the talk of a reborn/revitalized sports car image, the 2 CSL concepts (clearly they're interested...), the fact that CSL branding is coming back soon, Scott suggesting the csl hybrid power plant may make Z production... All of these seem like clues to me that we'll see a Z5 CSL at some point |

I'm hoping it will share components with the M models, same way 1 series shared with e9x M3, and M2 with f8x M3/4. Even if if architecture and mounting points are shared it will make for easier swaps.
I'm running M components on my e89, but damn shame I can't swap the diff, and rear brakes.
