Yellow engine light
Good afternoon everyone. This is my first time writing on this board so forgive me if I ignore some etiquette rules I don’t know.
So I got my g29 M40i last week with 10 miles on the odometer. After 220 miles I got my first yellow engine light. Took it to Bmw and thy told me the code is fuel line air leak (small) and that I should check when I gas up that the gas tank Cap is fully screwed on with a click. This is not my first Bmw or car for what’s worth, but I said ok. I screwed in in front of the advisor. Two days after same thing. I never even gassed up from the service (they cleared the message). Probably is the same code error. What do you think? Is his common in a car this new? Did I gas up with the wrong fuel? I leased, going back in my history, 430i, 328d, 128i and never had this issue. Any help appreciated. Thank you. Any help appreciated. |

Welcome to the forum.
I don't see why using the wrong fuel would give that error - you'd have a whole load of pain if you did that. Sounds like a fault somewhere in the fuel line (faulty component, damaged component, badly fitted component etc). No idea if it's common, but I'd take it back and get them to check it again (properly). |

Thank you, I will drop the car tomorrow am, and if there's any developments I'll post in here. It seems after long researching that this happens so often with certain models.

I had the light come on around 500 miles. They ended up replacing a faulty fuel tank breather valve. 3 days later the light came on again and they had to replace a charcoal filter, which my service advisor said was a part of the same fuel and exhaust system.
