Drove our Handschalter Z4 after dark for the first time last night. There is no ambient lighting like this in the console area. I believe this is as they designed it but wanted to check with others that have 6MT to make sure it is not a defect.

I have that option and have ambient lighting everywhere else, just not around the edge of the shifter console.

I don’t see that on the BMW build site. Was I supposed to know about this from another source? If I’m in production as of yesterday is it too late to add? What else isn’t on the build site? Thanks!! FOMO!!!

My guess is when they moved to a six speed they didn’t bother with it

The colored ambient lighting is optional equipment.

Thanks! I see it now in my build. I was looking for the $250 and it’s $0 since part of package so I skipped right by it.

It appears this car at the Welt does not have ambient lighting around the main console/shifter either, which probably means it was removed for some reason on the 6MT..

This video shows it pretty well. I agree that they must have decided not to try to incorporate ambient lighting in this area for the 6MT. Thanks for the responses!

I have the 6speed manual and no ambient lighting in the center console

-moreover if the option „dimm ambient light at night „ is checked it only dimmed the lights on the dashboard, but not in the foot area- contrary to what is shown on the display where all lights should be dimmed.

Might want to check if it is the same for yours…
