Looks like it has Mercedes SL in it... mixed with the stinger as someone mentioned. I would take a hard top convertible over the soft top any day. 50kg weight savings but looks awful ...

It is the B58TU. Assuming this is a US spec model, it is a B58B30O1. If it is instead a Euro spec model, it is a B58B30M1.

if I recall correctly... BMW said they wouldn't make an M model for E85 and they did.... and then they said the same for the E89.. and they actually held true and didn't.. So they have both bases covered. looks like a 50/50 proposition...

Exactly, this from the horse's mouth.

Luk said the biggest challenge designing the Z4 was at the front end: “Every project has unique challenges, but the front end tends to be the most problematic because of required crash structures. For example, we tried to get the kidneys as low as possible, but we would probably have put them even lower if it weren’t for other considerations.”

And despite the Z4's partnership with the upcoming Toyota Supra, Luk said the design teams haven't liaised. He said: “The Supra was a really independent operation. I’ve never spoken to anyone at Toyota during the design of the Z4.”

Pretty sure that isn't true. By whose account? Have you read any of the PR or interviews from the other side? The joint platforum was co develop to meet the needs of both companies. It wasn't like the G29 had already existed or was already in development and then Toyota jumped on board.

One of the pics show a 275/35R19 tire, so more than likely a 10.0-10.5 inch wheel, which won't fit the 2er.

Interesting that they have a wider tire than the M2C and it's not even a full on M car ..

Hopefully bmw is putting all hands on deck on finding better ways to all their M power down to the ground, beginning with wheel arch design

It actually has to do with some sort of particulate filter that has to be installed on new cars in Europe. I got that out of one of the videos released today talking about the car in detail.

Agreed...something about the front end is off - it looks too pointed towards the middle maybe?

Not a fan...don't like the headlights at all either...

My thoughts exactly. If this thing really has rubber that wide and real sports car DNA, it makes it that much more disappointing that BMW gave the coupe/hardtop rights to Toyota.

Is it just me or design mimics merc roadsters rather closely than a typical bimmer exterior

I agree with the posts that say that the car has Japanese proportions. The OTHER car that it reminds me of is the Mitsubishi Eclipse - with the raked front, and even a bit with the strakes on the sides.

I don't think all hope is lost. If the front end gets revised in an LCI it could be good. I'm also anxious to see it in blue and white.

And finally... M Roadster... c'mon BMW. It's the obvious thing to do. It's what the enthusiast want. This is one of your CORE enthusiast model lines. Do not lose this opportunity.

Why does nothing ever look as good as the Concept Drawings? That's why I never bothered with Transportation Design. It never comes out as cool as you imagined it too.
