Interesting Supra Review for Z4 Owners?
Most of the points have been made previously, but this guy does a professional job presenting them. I hope I'm not out of line for recommending this review here, but as a Z4 M40i owner, I found it interesting and I hope some of you do too.

Very interesting review - thanks for posting. Wow, does this car cost only $49k in the US. Sounds like a bargain to me.

I do know it's MSRP is considerably less than the BMW M40i and it is getting really positive reviews for the way it drives. That being said, I'm happy to own the BMW. I prefer a two seater as a convertible roadster.

I don't know what others think but the new Supra looks like it's been designed by a 13 year old.

I had to revive this because I'm in the market for a Z4 now as my 340's lease is up...
I've read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos of both cars. The Z4 is a convertible... That in itself puts it in a different class then the Supra. I personally would look harder at the Supra if it had MORE power out the of gate but it doesnt. Also - Now that it is 3 months later (seems like time has stood still though) I'm curious what the future holds for the Z4. My dealer has stated no new manufacturing of the 2020's will take place and the details on the 2021's have not surfaced. I'm curious if they will kill the line or give it some type of true M treatment. If they but the S58 in that little body it would really be one hell of a sports car. edit: It seems an admin moved this post from another thread and put it here... Obviously totally out of context and half of it doesn't make sense. Last edited by Pr3dict; 05-05-2020 at 03:59 PM.. Reason: ummm... out of context? |

BMW has pretty much stated that they plan to produce the G29 Z4 for about 4 or 5 years, and unless something significantly changes in the market, there won’t be a direct successor. Personally, and that’s pure speculation on my part, I am hoping they continue partnership with Toyota and/or another partner. I am also hoping they see the relative success of the Corvette (first time Corvette will be offered in international markets) and see that there is indeed a market. Hoping people opt for the convertible C8 more than the coupe version. But hope dies last.... even though rebellions are built upon hope. Still, given it was something like 12 years between the prior Z4 and the G29, I wouldn’t hold my breath that we’ll see much more than a very mild LCI refresh, and production may indeed stop for a couple of years after 2024 (last year of production). |

It's my understanding Magna/Graz plans to restart BMW production on May 18. My Z4 order status moved from 111 to 112 a few days ago.

Hmmmm. I really wish we got more info on what is changing with the 2021's. I want to take advantage of the BMS FS pays your first two payments but I need to take delivery by June 1st... That's $1000 right there down the drain if I wait for the 2021's. Buttttttt I'll get exactly the car I'm looking for so idk what to do.

My guess is no significant changes to the car but pricing, option packages, etc. - definitely anything possible.

I’ll only be pissed if they incorporate neck scarf next MY...or significantly increase HP for nearly the same price point. Pretty happy with the deal I got, the car situated as is. No time like the present as they say...and you certainly can’t take it all with ya. Live life while you can...and try not to sweat the small stuff.

Blue w/black interior on the 19" Orbits. Executive package would also be preferred but not needed per say. I also technically don't need a car right now because the whole "stay-at-home". So maybe this is for the better... |

Like others have said: probably just changes in option packages, maybe more standard stuff, and hey, maybe the option to get a black grille here in the US on the M40i. |

If you don't mind voiding your warranty. You can easily push 500 + horsepower on a z4 or supra. Bmw makes it tougher by encrypting the ECU with every upgrade. Don't like anything about supra but the easy tuning! And its a Toyota

I think one other upgrade they might do is a full 360 parking camera and maybe live monitoring through the connected app. Oh and lane keep assist as opposed to lane departure warning. Rob |

Supra doesn’t even factor in
As an early Z4 owner I can say I didn’t even consider the Supra and still wouldn’t at any price. The styling is horrible. This car is designed for the Civic Type R tuner crowd. Of course it’s cheaper - it’s not a convertible. Convertible cars are always $5-$7K more than a hardtop. In addition the Supra has BMWs last gen tech and last gen engine (which they had to fix only 1 model year later) Who wants that? The M40i people got a far superior car IMO. No question about it.

https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...upra-30-drive/ They were able to pull a 3.5 0-60 out of the thing. Crazy how the 2020 supra was 50hp less power then the Z4 but still quicker. Now this 2021 version would rip past a Z4 unfortunately. |

Yeah I'm curious to see the changes as well. So far it's been radio silence though. Not even a single leak!
