Had my brand new Z4 for 2 days and OMG the HK hifi is a joke.....terrible sound.

I've been advised that a Match 10up with upgraded wiring loom will certainly improve the sound and is a straight plug in play (plus tuning of course)

Does anyone have any pictures on how to locate/replace the HK AMP in a G29...down to removal of carpet sides etc....

I saw a video about adding bass ports to a supra, would be good to see if something similar is possible for the z4.

I've found this re amp upgrade re Match 10up - RAM - Not a Z4 but believe its similar.

Yep in German - Look at about 7mins in....you get the jist

I wasn't happy with my HK system at first but it improved significantly over the the first few weeks. Once the speakers start to bed in the sound got much better. I've also fiddled with the equaliser and coded the Bowers & Wilkins DSP setting via Bimmercode.
Is it perfect, no. Is it acceptable, absolutely yes.

Also what audio source are you using? I think that can affect the quality as well. I use spotify and some tracks just aren't that well recorded while others sound superb.

IMHO, the audio source is a major factor in the complaints I have seen posted here. If you are listening to lossless audio the HK sound system is fabulous!

Same with me. I wasn't happy with the HK until a combination of an upgrade and equaliser work resulted in a far better sound. It's certainly nowhere near bad enough to replace.

The Bowers & Wilkins DSP does make a huge difference, but the settings do vary depending on the music played.

Treble +2 Bass +1
Balance Centered
Fader -2 to front

Equaliser left to right
+2 +1 0 +2 0 0 +1
