It's about proper engineering, pride of craftsmanship (yes even robots have pride), and tight quality control proceedures.

What personal experience do you have with a G8 that makes you qualified to make any statements about its build quality? Suggesting that parts are going to fall off the car is absurd considering there isn't even one in the country that's more than a few months old.

The GTOs were built in the same production facility and have no interior issues like "parts that fit and stay in place".

Making statements about an cars interior without considering the price point is something that borders on idiocy. A 535 has an awful interior compared to the Bentley I drove.....but does that make it a bad interior at $60k? Hardley.

Some of you guys need to take your blinders off. In its size price range there's nothing EVEN CLOSE to a G8 in performance or interior quality, and certainly not both. If you think there is, post a picture of it.

The Australian Holdens are very well built cars - and the GTO and G8 are the only samples of Holden vehicles that we Americans get to see.

Interiors are built to price-points, and GM used to save money by cheapening interiors (back in the days when the 'toothpaste' people were running the comapny).

Another thing to keep in mind, for those of you who want to rail about the lo-tech LS engines in GM, the so called hi-tech DOHC engine has been around since 1912 (Peugeot GP car). The only major advances in engine design in the last 50 years have been in metallurgy and electronics. If you really wanted hi-tech you'd opt for the N52 block in the 128i and forego the lo-tech ally block in the 135i. ; -)

i have worked on a few GTOs in the past, and it very much reminds me of the overkill German interior designs...
