Thanks, it was the best "too long, didn't read" I could come up with on the spot lol. A lot more has transpired, like today I have a shit ton to go do, so I'll probably have another update by tomorrow. Hitting up Detroit tonight with my old group of car friends.

Watched a JC Penny commercial last night and it got me irate. How in the world are they going to open up at 3PM on Thanksgiving Day? I'm so glad I got out of working retail back in 1998

My mom convinced me to go with her to Walmart on Thanksgiving last year to get a gift and I begrudgingly agreed, mainly so that she didn't get mugged.
Nope. Never again. It was a disgusting, absurd, zoo. Plus, any sales they get only encourages them to keep opening earlier. No thanks. |

When I met my wife back in 2004, she was a assistant manager at Best Buy and that Black Friday she had to be in work at 3am before the 5am opening. I thought that was absurd but I mean if they are going to open up at 3pm on Thanksgiving day, why not just open at 7am the day off? They are screwing with the workers so why not just jam it right in harder?

I was at Dick's last night, looking for .22 ammo while the wife tried on some shoes. Guy told me they have 15 cases, but it goes on the floor at 6pm on Thanksgiving. I *MIGHT* have to break with tradition and go shopping after turkey.

Why does everyone stack .22 like it's going out of style? And if it's so in demand, why don't these manufacturers just make more of it and make bank?
Is it the SHTF hunting round of choice? Why not 9mm, 5.56, or 12ga.? They seem much more common and useful. |

But for me, it's just cheap to plink with. With the advent of nice .22 AR platforms, it's cheap training as well. Give it to the wife, she has fun plinking around while also unknowingly being trained on the AR platform. I bought a 10,000 a while back for .04/round before it became scarce. I've still got about 5k rounds left. That's about 1000rds a year or so, maybe a little more, costing roughly $40/year. Though to beat cost wise. That same round count in 9mm or 5.56 will run you about $200 to $300 a year. Not to long ago those calibers would run you about $400 to $700 a year for shooting 1000rds. Maybe a lot of people stock the .22lr for when the next "ammo scare" happens. Then they can just shoot more .22 until the other caliber prices settle back down. ??

So is it so scarce because even if the price is "high" for a .22, it still makes financial sense to plink with it rather than more expensive rounds? Quote:

I don't know what the cost of .22 is these days per round. The last time i looked was a while ago but i recall something like $.14/rd if you don't scout all the local wallyworlds. It's probably a bit lower if you can find it. Again, i haven't had the need to look for it in some time. But 9mm is getting close to being under $.20/ round for FMJ. And a decent target round of 5.56 is getting into the mid to low$.20s/ rd too. Before long some proposed legislation will come about and once again, anything gun related will be worth it's weight in gold for a while.

After USPS and Lunch, I took my kid to GameStop. I think GameStop is her 2nd favorite place to go after ChuckECheese.
Stayed there for 45minutes. My leg are sore standing up for that long. *Ha! While I am posting this, CNBC is reporting about Gamestop (GME) about horrible #s. |

Because I have two kids and we shoot a lot.
I shot approx 5K rounds of .45 at a training class one time. Unless I get free ammo, I'm bringing my own for any training, which means anywhere from 1K-2K rounds for a 3 day carbine or a few hundred for shotgun. |

I see, some people just shoot a lot.
I was under the wrong assumption that it was just stockpiling for the sake of having it on hand. |
