Finally have a production number.

After months of waiting I am now "officially" waiting. My white/cognac M40i will probably arrive in indiana with the first snow.

That is what happened to me. Got it home on December 28 and we had some snow almost every week after that.

I am in Indiana as well, West Lafayette to be exact. I ordered mine in April, production started first of May, and now its been at the Port for a week.

Anyone having trouble with the BMWUSA.com website and tracking their vehicle. I finally have a production number as well, but when I log into the site, and go to owners/my BMW garage/track my BMW, I constantly get the following:

"We're sorry.
An error occurred and My BMW Garage is unavailable at this time. Please try again later or visit BMWUSA.com."

I have tried 4 different browsers across 2 computers (Mac & Windows) and get the same error. Been that way for a week.

I have had the same error message using different browsers the last few days when trying to login to My BMW Garage. The same was true for logging into BMWFS using my web browsers, but that started working again earlier today.

In addition, I had an issue using MY BMW app and checking my BMWFS account and that is still not working.

I had that same issue when I was trying to track my car. I finally got hold of someone who told me that BMW was having an issue. It did get fixed a few days later.

The Genius folks should be able to tell you your car's status. Give them a call, not an email. They don't seem to respond to emails until after a day or two.

Thanks. I called BMW Customer Service and let them know of the problem with the website. They admitted it was having problems, but no estimate on a fix. The customer svc rep told me I went into the paint shop yesterday. I just don't know the phases of production or typical timelines. I assume paint is very early in the process.

Below is the timeline for my build. It will give you an idea of where paint is in the timeline, but the time it takes for each station can vary a lot! My car was being built early in the period where supply chains were starting to be an issue. Also, mine had to come across the pond and through the Panama Canal. Yours won't have such a long trip to get to you.

07/31/2021 - Placed order with dealer
08/05/2021 - Approved order details
08/18/2021 - Production begins
08/26/2021 - Paint shop
09/04/2021 - Entering assembly line
09/06/2021 - Quality Check / Final assembly
10/18/2021 - Ready for transport
10/19/2021 - Awaiting carrier assignment
10/27/2021 - Dispatched from factory
10/29/2021 - At the port

Thanks COKen. I talked to BMW Genius again today. Finished production today and is in the "Ready for Transport" status. I had planned to take delivery at the performance center. I think it would be a neat experience. My salesman said that can delay delivery up to a month, depending .... I'll make that decision once they can tell me when it would hit the dealer in Atlanta vs. Spartanburg/Greenville. Not sure it would be fun at the performance center in Dec. Oct or Nov would be great.

BTW, Genius confirmed it will have touch screen, so that seems to be solved. Will not have wireless charging, but will be digital key capable.

UPDATE: Received my build sheet from the dealer today. Indeed, digital key was deleted ($80 deduction from price). Evidently, the BMW Genius needs to study a little more. As most of you already knew, digital key is tied to wireless charging. Wireless charging was not even an option when I ordered.

I highly recommend doing the performance center delivery. I took delivery of my Z4 mid-June and it was a blast! Drove back to Buffalo taking the Blue-ridge Parkway.
