I'll be posting updates on my PCD to this thread if anyone is interested. Here are some documents I received from the Performance Center you may find interesting.

Right Idea
I'm busy planning my first drive after the PCD. Blue Ridge Parkway to Gatlinburg and then Foothills Parkway to "Tail of the Dragon". I had to laugh when I saw what was in the Google Street View picture at Deals Gap. I'll have to take a picture there myself if it's not too crowded!
Fingers crossed that late March will be a warm one. My route will be messed up big-time if there's snow in the Appalachians. |

March is a very transitional time for the weather in the Smokies. Good luck.
It may be hard to break in your new Z according to BMW recommendations while driving the Dragon. |

I did PCD in 2017 with my last BMW. It's a wonderful time - enjoy it.
I agree with badfitter that it might be tough to stay within the break-in restrictions on the Dragon. Charles

Or, you could ignore the break in restrictions and enjoy. Not that I'm recommending that, just stating an option. One that I chose with my F80 during European Delivery and don't regret for a second.

The problem is not speed but keeping part throttle and lower RPM. You will want to be downshifting going in to the curves and power out of them.
Report back if you never exceed 4,500 and never mash the gas. |

https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ance%20Center.Found this post on a different forum. My original BMW forum site Bimmerfest had separate sections for Performance Delivery. You've got to poke around to find stuff on this site. I won't be posting the specifics of PCD as this post covers it very well.

So, I did my PCD yesterday. It was my 3rd one but I continue to have a ton of fun. The factory tour is still going although it is quite abbreviated from before due to COVID.
I was very pleasantly surprised that they had a Z4 M40 to thrash around all morning. The braking exercise was a revelation. Even coming in hot at 45mph I didn't actually have to turn fully (those who have done it will remember that part). Also, I loved it on the autocross track. It was a beast in the slalom. It was so much fun I may change from it being my weekend cruiser to an occasional autocrosser! Your goal if you're doing PCD: see if you can do a 360 on the skidpad, recover out of it, and keep going around the pad. |

Did they let you hit the DSC button on the autocross track? My PCD is three weeks from tomorrow. My goal is to try and handle the skid pad without spinning 360 degrees. I'd like to drift it around the pad if I can. Doubtful. |

My M240i on the Tail of the Dragon
TOD is a great drive. I have found many more here in Arizona that are just as fun but with much less traffic. I love my Z4 compared to the M240i. I think if I had better tires on the M240i it would have been almost enjoyable.

Checked my BMW app to see how my baby was doing in Greer (Spartanburg) waiting for next weeks delivery. Status shows she's unlocked and the driver's window is down! Oh, no - big storms coming and they left her out in the rain unprotected. Nah, Google satellite view shows her location inside the Performance Center. She's tucked away nice and safe hopefully getting prepped for my arrival!
