It can be repaired, but it will involve taking the bumper off, repairing from the inside, and complete repaint. It will still be expensive.

Hit and run while parked, so typical of a POS. If the cost of repair labour is nearly as much as a new painted bumper then its worth to go with the latter. That said these mobile scratch and repair guys in vans can work miracles and worth a call.

Someone hit and ran my E92 while sitting in my driveway, I got a picture of the car as he sped away. I gave the picture to my insurance but it was ultimately declined because my friend wasn't a neutral witness? I'd file a claim and just pay your deductible, this is why you pay for insurance.

100% repairable. Expect a body shop to put 4-6 unit hours of physical repair on the cover itself, along with refinish ops. I'm not exactly sure what the going labor rate is in Baltimore but my guess is it's somewhere between 50-60 per hour. Nothing there that requires BMW certification either by the way, bumper cover repair is Auto Body 101 stuff that any qualified body shop can handle. good luck.

Was it a hit and run??? OP doesn’t mention anything in that regards. Maybe the person is willing to cover the damage without getting insurance involved. There are some descent people out there.

shops say they don't report to carfax but my experience is that somehow it still gets on there.

The software that body shops use to generate estimates for repairs sells all collected data, which typically includes the VIN and customer Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as name/address/phone number to a data aggregator via a “data pump” who then sells it to CarFax. This is how it will end up on CarFax even if a body shop tells you they don’t report to CarFax or even if you only receive an estimate and do not proceed with the work.

Take a look here https://www.autobodynews.com/news/ci...istory-reports

It’s extremely hard to avoid and happened to myself when I went to get an estimate from a body shop for minor bumper damage in 2018. I only found out it was reported to CarFax when I sold the vehicle five years later.

I as well would first check with a bumper repair only shop first to get their opinion first.
