Steering Wheel

Thinking of buying 2025 m40i, drove a 2023 with 5800 miles on it

Why is the steering wheel so thick? any reason, kind of a turn off

anyone else have that complaint, or do you just get use to it.

I know the way to hold at 9&3, but many times its more like 10&2

your input would be great

Thank you

Thicker wheel then I’ve had in previous cars, after a bit of driving I prefer it over a thin wheel now. You get used to it very quickly.

It’s a plus, not a minus. Compared to the E85 Z4M it’s thin.

It's thick, but I wouldn't say too thick. That said, I didn't mind it in the test drive.

I believe in theory you could swap it out with a Supra wheel or something aftermarket if you really don't like it.

I agree with this. It was a surprise to start with, but I find it much more natural now. Indeed, in the other car with thin wheels seems 'odd' now, and I drive that more.

I also like this “thicker” wheel and it is a nonissue to me.

BMW M Performance G-Chassis Steering Wheel

The burning question to ask if whether you dislike the OEM wheel enough to spend $1000+ on a genuine replacement? I'd prefer to match the 12 o'clock marker with the seat and door card color... but ymmv.

This isn't any thinner than the stock one. Just different materials.

Got my fire extinguisher out. Killed the burning question. Way to expensive. Would go with a piece of red tape to mark 12 o'clock.
