(Updated w/ more pics on page 2) Some "in the wild" photos of the CLA45 AMG.

The first CLA45 AMGs are being delivered.

They look better in "real" photos than they do in promotional images.

I imagine they look even better in person.

I saw the base model in person and was quite impressed & this was without the AMG kit. IMO they look a lot better in person than the web images.

CLA45 looks mean and I expect it'll quickly become the top selling AMG model. The waiting list in Sydney is well into next year apparently.

Yeah they are definitely hard to come by. And I agree with your impressions.

I sat in one of the "base" models and was impressed by two things: 1) The quality of the interior materials and 2) How much room it had.

Exactly...It has loads of room for something based on the A class platform. Funny enough, first thing I did was sit in the back seat and gotta say...the seat were really comfy. Raked roof however would be a problem for taller folks int he back. According to the sales rep, its slightly longer than the current C but narrower.

Fit and finish was surprisingly excellent, the car felt quite premium inside (albeit this CLA200 had upgraded Nav, moonroof, leather seats and HK logic 7)...really solid doors and quality buttons, switches, etc. The only let down to me was the center console where the cup holders are - black plastic. Not too shabby for an entry model.

I can't believe I'm saying this but CLA looks light years better than the upcoming new design of that C class.

I am not fond of the overall look , but...
My sister inlaw just picked up a black black with the AMG package.

Not as bad in person. For the money it will take some time to decide its worth to cost.

I am 6'2" and have to think anyone taller than around 5'6" or so is not fitting in back.
Good size trunk, pretty good seat comfort and position.
The 45 will sell like mad I would think...just not to me.

You have to keep in mind that this is the AMG.

The new W205 C Class AMG variant will likely look substantially better than the standard model (as is the case with the W204).

They should be hitting dealers in the States sometime in July.

Although the CLA is longer than the C Class, the sloping, coupe-style roof profile makes for little rear headroom.

I'm about 5'9" - 5'10" and the hair on the back of my head graces the roof (ceiling?) in the back.

I thought it was this week?

Granted, I know if I build my order and wish to purchase, I probably won't get it untill July, but I would hope the dealerships would get a demo car or something!

(This is from me reading information from the cla forums - many of them have been at dock waiting for mercedes to give the go ahead to release them)

That very well could be.

I know that the Sales Manager at my dealership wanted one and although it was scheduled to arrive by Christmas, the delivery date is now July. He ended up getting a C63 507 instead.

They have unfortunately been having major issues (even with the standard CLA250 - many people are getting CELs)

The 19 inch rim options have now been delayed to April, so if you got the AMG package you either have the option of getting the standard 18s, or waiting until then.

Last time I checked, the same thing happened with the night package and the cheaper dinaca recaros.

http://www.mercedescla.org/forum/14-...nstraints.html" rel="" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://www.mercedesc...aints.html</a>" rel="" target="_blank">http://<a href="http://<a href="http...s.html</a></a>

Also, too many orders not enough engines, but I guess that is not that bad of a problem right?

Edit:

If I was to get one, it would be base + dinaca recaros (2250) + AMG exhaust. I believe that puts it around 50k after my work discount. I would want the carbon fiber exterior trim, but I'm sure that will be cheaper aftermarket than the 3,800 package

Wow I knew that they were in demand but that's incredible.

Definitely not a bad problem for Mercedes! Unfortunately, this means that dealers will be able to charge whatever they want for these things for a while.

i've seen a bunch of CLA 250s now and they really are pretty strange looking.....i usually like rounded cars in a more 'classic' sense of the word....but the CLA just doesn't do it for me. It seems like a very contrived design and disproportional from front to rear.

i'm guessing the CLA45 AMG will look better than the hum drum CLA 250, however i don't think anything can really fix that cartoon-ish looking rear end.

Just noticed the side stickers. Turbo! Is there a new German law that requires stupid fluff on the side of all cars now?

It's part of the AMG heritage to indicate what is under the hood on the sides of the front fenders.

Haha! I'm guessing you're a fan of the de-badged look? I don't mind the bling.

So long as there isn't a Christmas tree attached to the car somewhere.
