Then 5 laps later they call him to pit with Box , box , box !

Finally he went in to pit ..
HAM : I told you man ! While he first said : I'll never finish the race with these tires man !

What they didn't said was that HAM was losing 2 sec. in each lap , and Ocon was losing each lap 4-6 sec !
Both drivers , HAM and Ocon were a danger with their 'nibbled tires , and a danger for the other drivers !

As you know a plum can be sweet but also sour ..
Ham's plum was very sour !

Intercooler improvement reduces the pressure drop, so it may be possible for Merc to reduce the stress the turbos (PSI required to compensate for pressure drop), drop turbo outlet temperatures, and keep performance targets.

Simpleton example (constant efficiency)
Strat+ Before upgrade

After upgrade (with upgraded intercooler)

Given the Bottas Monza PU failure, likely testing and tweaking the PU with new intercooler. It makes sense for Hammy to run the slightly detuned version of Bottas PU knowing Bottas will swap positions. Bottas running the rabbit mode.

Merc’s decrease in temps and high downforce package will give RBR trouble at Mexico and Brazil.

Do we know that Bottas actually had PU issues after Monza though? Definitely an interesting take that they pushed it past its limit and used him as a test subject and now a rabbit. Merc doing what it takes to win. Its going to be a fun run to the end of the year!

It's not on google so I don't know for sure about Newey.
Vettel took a chance but it didn't pay off for him, probably thought it was worth the risk.
LH seemed confused and was even having a go at his box for telling him to come in wanting to stay out more even to the end on tyres in danger of failing.

You've explained it well there so we'll see in practice how it goes ,certainly Bottas sailing away at the front there seems a bad omen for everyone else but the strange noises recorded in the Merc PU will also hold some intrigue.
At least Newey is back from his whatever accident and RB should take measures to counter Mercs new found pace that showed in Bottas's car anyway.

Just to re-cap if it's just intercooler upgrade and strat adjust then shouldn't be rocket science to up the tempo for any PU.

Exactly my friend . That's what I was saying already from at Silverstone ..

Of course the FIA sleeps when it is about the Mercedes (cheating) performance !

Currenty the Mercedes W12 is faster without DRS than the other cars with DRS !
So ...This means that DRS now is useless for the other teams !
No wonder that MAX couldn't close the gap vs BOT ...

If this is approved by the FIA . Mercedes can't lose the WDC !!!

20 km/h faster on the straights ....That's mind blowing !
