TPMS problem

The temperature has dropped around here in the last few days, It had been in the 60 - 75 range, now it's low 50s. I am now getting low tire pressure warnings with pressure showing 25 - 27psi per wheel. However, when I check tire pressure with several very accurate gauges and a Milwaukee tire inflator, they all show it is 30.5psi. The last time I got a low tire pressure warning, there actually was a tire that was a little low. However, the tire pressure shown by TPMS matched exactly to what my gauges and Milwaukee tire inflator showed.

So, I'm inclined to believe the TPMS is wrong. I don't know if it is related to the temperature drop, or simply a coincidence and I don't know what to do about it. My car only has 14k miles and the tires have 3k miles.

The only thing I can think of is the TPMS read the pressures cold and you read them after the tires warmed up?

Did you do the TPMS reset procedure following refilling the air?

I had to reset my TPMS yesterday following filling my air after a big seasonal drop in my wife's 5 series. You then drive it around for a mile or two and it should reset and show the correct values.

No, I checked the tires immediately after getting the message and displayed the TPMS reading immediately after checking the tires. The discrepancy was still present.

I will give that a try.

Starting with a cold car, air temp 52... I checked tire pressure with my inflators... all 3 said 31 - 32 psi on every tire. TPMS said 27psi on 3, 25.5 on 1. I did the reset and drove until it completed. TPMS now showed 29 on 3 tires, 28.5 on 1. Inflators still read 32psi. I guess I'll live with it, unless I start getting those messages again.
