Question Executive Demo?

Hi all- looking to purchase a '21 base model S30i "executive demo". It is not certified since the miles are under 300. However, the factory warranty runs through February 2025.

Has anyone purchased an executive demo / had any issues? This particular one was used to train techs at the NJ headquarters.

My wife leased an X1 service loaner as her first BMW. I realize it’s not the exact same thing, but it’s close (her’s had about 4,500 miles on it). No issues whatsoever, and we got a solid discount on it. I’m guessing this is a safer bet than buying a used 30i. Hard for stuff to go wrong with less than 300 miles.

Maybe 10 years ago I bought a 335 6MT Glacier Silver sedan that was used as an Exec car by someone working at the Woodcliff Lakes BMW HQ. The car had 8200 miles when I bought it from a dealer in Philly. I drove it to 36K miles. It was one of the best cars Ive ever owned and it had zero issues. I think the BMW exec cars get tons of TLC and servicing because BMW know they will be sold to customers.

I bought a 2015 330i that was a corporate car. It was 3 months old and had 7500 miles. It was my DD for 5 years until I retired. Put 65k additional miles on it. Never had a problem. Just regular service and a set of tires about halfway through.

A genuine 300 miles? Hard to see how there can be any mechanical issues at all. I would just look out for minor scrapes and scratches as people get in and out of something that is not their own car.

If the price is the same as for a “normal” 3 year old car, or somewhere close, I’d eat it up.

Almost bizarre to find a '21 with only 300 miles on it but it would be a great buy for the right price. Sadly our Z4s depreciate quite rapidly so you shouldn't be paying more than $42K for it.

Flemington?

They had a M40 also with similar miles, both cars had no options, it was black on black.

I bought an X7 from them end of 2022 that was similar but fully loaded, they buy a lot of these at auction. My X7 was 18 months old and had 3k miles, no issues so far.

If a better warranty is an issue, loaded 30i’s that are CPO’s sell in the $40-45k range.

I think the price started close to $50, $49.5 or something like that, so that's a good drop. I remember thinking they priced them high.

I know that this extremely low mileage is almost too good to be true and very tempting.

I personally would look for a 2021 CPO which is loaded with the additional packages that they offered even if the mileage is in the low teens as the pricing would be about the same.

A stripped down bare bones car simply doesn’t work for me.

You say to it was used "train techs" I assume that means that they took apart and put back together various components so they didn't use it for driving around, I'd be concerned that inexperienced techs were messing with it, did the screw something up?

My car is a 2024 M40i that is a fully loaded exec demo - it was driven by the top sales dude and had 2500 miles. They gave me a 9k discount and it's considered a new car. I couldn't have swung the M40i if I didn't get that discount. So far, I'm happy with my choice.
