Ahhhh - the first dent/scratch.

So my GF doesn’t think it’s a big “deal” but to me it is and I know it’s there.

Because it’s down to the metal, the entire hood needs to be repainted. I was quoted $700. Good price?

Ugh, I know how you feel. The good news is that a quality repair job will be indistinguishable from factory. $700 seems pretty reasonable to me if you’ve done your research and they do quality work. How did it happen?

I thought the car was all the way in the garage and closed the garage door on the hood…🙄😂

Yes, I’ve shopped around and found the best shop based on reviews. Thanks!

A+ for honesty. I'd pay the $700 and never speak of it again!

This has happened to me and 700 is reasonable considering that it's a three stage paint. I paid 400 for a small ding on my rocker panel a few months back but 50 of that was charged to take off the PPF.

If it were me, find a good dent guy and see if he can get it out. Then find a good paint chip guy and see if he can help. See my PDR thread in the main detailing forum. That was for my wife's x4, but a real pro can likely solve the dent/crease 100%.

I caught a rock on my drive home from picking up my car in tulsa - see pic. Has pissed me off for 2 months. Used some of my prior knowledge, also some learned from YT videos and its 80% better after i spent 2 hrs on it. I really don't notice now and my camera wouldn't even focus on it to get an after shot.

The car is so beautifully painted from the factory i would exhaust all options before letting someone take a sander to the paint. It's not about the $700, its about keeping the factory paint in my book.

Others will no doubt disagree, but that's my 2 cents.

I'd try to find the best PDR shop to take out the dent but if the dent is above a reinforcement beam, they may need to drill a hole through the beam to gain access. If the PDR was successful, I'd then research a paint touch-up solution. There are several out there.
