I picked up these last October, and this is my first winter using them (or any winter tires for that matter). No compliments about ride or anything, and no issues with grip or performance thus far either.

These seem like the most straightforward option. I like the drop to 18 inchers for the winter.

Where I live, I put snows on all my cars for the winter (except the MGB ;-) so I am pretty well equipped to swap out tires on rims in my garage.

Agreed. Gives a little more sidewall than the stock 19’s on my car.

Now if I could just get the allocation.
Going from a 35 to 30 aspect ratio is not what I'd call a "5% difference". It's technically 35% of 275mm vs 30% of 285mm.

I think my ideal wheels would be "square" as well, I always wear out the front left tire with so many on / off ramps nearby. It would be nice to rotate them, not just swap with the other front if they aren't directional but actually rotate all 4 tires.

I think they refer to these as "1st world problems".
You can always just get the any of the 19" configurations.

Yep, I'm aware. That was the black set I was referring to.

I assume your “square” ideal wheels would mean the same wheel width and tire size on front and back which is not available on any of the 18” or 19” wheel offerings?

I think I've found my tire of choice for a square set up. Now, will it clear the front fenders though? Is rolling fenders a thing on the Z4s? Pretty common with the S2000 crowd when we go square. LOL!

Argo - thanks for the data. Interesting wrt to sidewall. Still like the 19"/20" cosmetically, but need to think about that aspect.

Correct. One wheel to fit all corners. Something like a 30 offset and 275's all around. Maybe 285's with a spacer in front. Aftermarket i.e. Apex has them ready to go in 18's for Supra's, and a few other options could be had there as well (19" or even 20" if one wished) requiring front spacers.

No factory options that could arrive with the car are square (except for the snow tire package, but no thanks on the extra cost and wheel choices).

Nice just a short distance. For winter tire i picked up a package deal from town fair tire. And with all 4 wheels tires and sensors was just under $1700.00 out the door. I got nexen win guard and all four are 255/35/19. They are holding up well as i’m am almost to the 30,000 mile mark on my Z. This is the third winter and they should have 1-2 more left in them.
