Not driven at night yet? Impressive. I can't get away with that.

Okay, I’ve had the car only a day, but I can’t figure out how to program CarPlay onto a button. Keeps telling me it can’t save it. Same with other setting type items. No problem saving contacts or Nav destinations. What am I missing?

I'm surprised that no one else programs a button for tire pressures. I have it on the 8 button in all my cars. It's a nice easy habit to start checking tire pressures as part of your routine. At least, I think it is.

I'll bet that if I were in your car at night I'd think your instrument lights and control display brightness were both set far, far too bright and that the control display brightness was excessive relative to the instrument cluster.

On previous cars I had these tweaked to a glorious level of impressive utility.

On the current one I just have a couple of things I can't do using voice commands and for which there aren't dedicated hard buttons. There aren't many of those and I've used them so infrequently I don't even recall what I programmed. For some of them using the iDrive controller is much quicker for me. One example is switching to CarPlay, which most of the time only requires a push forward then a click. My hand falls naturally to the iDrive controller but reaching for the programmable buttons is less natural while driving.

My ambient lighting is set on MAX ... it looks so pretty at night. Can barely see it during the day. Heads up display is kinda funny because during the day I drive with polarized sunglasses and can't see the HUD hardly at all. At night, I still like it pretty bright. I dunno .. I'm weird like that.

I have non-polarized prescription sunglasses that I leave in the car specifically so I can see the HUD. I’ve been doing it for years and they work great.

I just need to find a new set of sunglasses. I don't need them to be prescription, but I like wrap around sunglasses and not alot of them seem to fit my fat Funko Pop! head.

My issue is finding hats that don't make my ears stick out far enough to lift me out of the car at highway speed.

That's why there is a seat belt law.

How do you assign Apple Car Play to a button in the Z4? I tried that by navigating to car play on the display, held the button down, and the display said that wasn’t available.
