G29 Front License Plate

What method of attaching a front license plate are you all looking at doing for those in two-plate states?

There's no front tow hitch that I can see. Or did ya'll just .. drill into that front bumper?

For the plate, I saw on another thread of a fold down bracket that hides under the front facia. A guy from New York posted pics on it. I will just keep my front plate in the cabin.

The front tow hitch should have a square cover and the tow hook should be in the trunk. At least that's where they are on my F23.

Yeah i figured that tow hitch would be good.. but I'm not seeing one. The place I'm taking my car to get the PPF has a plate bracket that they install.. still a screw, but not directly in the front. Gotta see if they can do this for the Z4 too.

Check the manual. It may be behind the lower black mesh. it should be a screw in type and it will be the female part.

IIRC, it's with the fuse box in the trunk.

Update: see pic.

Yes that's where the tow hook connection is. I bought one that screws in there but didn't like it so I got the one that flips up from underneath but haven't installed it yet.

Yeah. Well even with that fold out, it seems that I gotta drill SOMEWHERE. Dunno if I want it that low... ugh ... damn these 2 plate states!

I don't run one ... I don't on any of my cars and it's a non-issue. Usually if I'm getting pulled over, a missing front plate isn't the primary concern

Agree, been cruising without one on the X5 for years, passed a lot of cops and they don't seem to care.

Screw 'em.......

Yeah, but it is the underside of the front diffuser. Who'll notice.

FYI, I've only been running 1 plate for the past 20 years and never got one word about when pulled over. I keep it between the console and passenger seat just in case I'm asked about it.

That's a good idea!

You could always use the new excuse of the century, "COVID", for supply chain issues related to the front plate bracket that's "on order from Germany"! lol

That high, huh? Our tickets in Jersey aren't that high ... but usually if they are going to write a citation, they usually only write one, the one with the highest gross $$ Speeding would def be higher, especially since they have built-in a new no-points violation that carries a hefty surcharge payable to the state to "Avoid" points. This is the go-to for prosecutors in NJ ... "Unsafe Driving" ... every speeding ticket is plead guilty and reclassed as this! ... Minimum $383 fine, 0 points ... much better revenue vs. a $55 speeding ticket that carries atleast 2 points

This is all you need. No drilling - fits right into the existing holes underneath. Took me 5 minutes to install

Seems like a better product than others, if a bit on the pricey side.

That was my thought as well. Seems to be a little pricier than I would have expected a license plate cover. Can't seem to justify why that little piece of metal is almost a hundred bucks.
