I stepped out of the car today with the engine still running to quickly grab something from inside the house and I thought the engine sounded weird. A rattling noise of sorts.

But I can't remember the last time I had the engine running while not being in the car so maybe I am just being an idiot about it lol.

It's a 2022 G29 M40i with just under 20.000 km on it.

I know. I just wanted some opinions on if that's a normal noise or not :-)

That doesn’t sound normal.

I hear injectors, maybe something else... hard to tell, even with my hearing aids cranked up all the way. There is another sound, but it could just be harmonics. These are not quiet engines.

Doesn’t sound normal compared to mine please get it checked and keep us posted. Curious to find out what it might be.

Swung by the dealership today, their mechanic said it sounded normal to him.

Soooo... idk. Most noise is on the left side of the engine, is that where the injectors all sit maybe?

It just sounds too loud/rattling for a modern engine to me.

The rattle is normal. I've heard it too on the Z4 I had and also a 3 series - both with B58 engines.

Roger that. I guess it became a little louder now that there are some miles on the engine.
