The new S24 Ultra features UW NFC which Samsung touts as being able to unlock your car from a distance instead of having to touch the door with the phone. But I haven't been able to get this to work and I'm wondering if anyone has.

UWB is not supported on the Z4. You need both one of the compatible phones and a car that supports it (for BMWs those are the ones with Digital Key Plus).

If I have one of my key fobs on my person, my door automatically unlocks when I am about 1 meter away. It also automatically locks as I walk away.

Yes, this works with the fob.

I can’t really see the need for anything more complicated. Auto lock/unlock with the key fob method is so simple and effective

It's that exact same thing but it works through your phone, so you don't have to carry the key itself.

I’m in shorts and tee shirt 90% of the time so I always have a small rucksack to carry phone, glasses, wallet, power bank. Including a key fob for two cars and a motorbike is no hardship for me and whichever I’m using takes no thought.
