I know the Boxster all too well.

I prefer the 911.

Your read my f*cking mind on that exactly. On the hood, there are 2 perpendicular lines on both sides, the weird part is that each 2 lines connect at the end which is strange indeed.

Exactly my thoughts. I don't know what the urge is to get more HP and Torque when a base 718 has 300 turbo HP Mid Engine and does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds? Highway speed limit is 65-70 so what is the point??

No offense to anyone, but I think its mostly the young juvenile crowd yearning for more pointless HP and Torque.

Reduced weight. This is a good thing
Higher insurance premiums, that's a bad thing.

Vehicle looks/design and price are in no way correlated.

If you're buying this car thinking of insurance prices then you shouldn't be buying this car. :

It will never be a classic to me because it spearheaded BMW's era of numb driving dynamics. That car was, from the very beginning, designed to be a mushy cruiser. Blasphemy.
Agreed !

Now the mid life cycle refresh 1st gen Z4 and Z4M coupe and convertible to me still looks great when I see them in the wild with the right trimmings .

Considering it was designed in the late 90's it still holds its own and aged very well !!! It was way ahead of its time.

The e85 z4 was chasing Porsche in the beginning and was much more raw, the e89 era z4 was chasing the Nissan Z and they went away from chasing Porsche for a more comfy ride as that's what they thought their target customer for this car was wanting.

Oh okay, that being said, the Ferrari 488 looks way better than the Boxster. I would go for the 488 since price and looks aren’t correlated.

Idk about ya'll but that side profile looks sexy. I know we're all upset it doesn't follow the F-Type style sloping angular hood but I think it looks okay.

The renderings from AutoBild weren't that far off.

Bmw is going all over with their new designs. I don't like it

Damn that thing is ugly...

No bias but I had an E89 and I think it looked way better than the new design.

Highly unlikely but they've obviously switched in the past

In addition to less weight, the advantages of a soft top include: much larger trunk space when the top is down, lower cg, lower production cost, and a more reliable mechanism. Only advantages of a hard top are better noise and temperature insulation. So if you want better speed/handling performance and/or plan to take your car on long trips - you want a soft top. If you want just a local daily driver cruiser - you may want a hard top.

This is growing on me and will probably look way better in person. Too bad there will be no third pedal option. Maybe there will be an M version in a couple of years and that will have a proper tranny.

BMW now considers an Automatic a "proper tranny" for an M-Car.

Sadness.

I, too, want the third pedal as an option. I don't care that a computer is faster than I am. I want to DRIVE, not be a passenger. If I didn't want to participate, I'd hail a cab.

I own no garage queens. If it's in my driveway, it's been ridden hard and put away wet. ...and now, with a light crust of Maine road salt.

I have owned a 2003, 2009 and now a 2011 Z4 and this looks like a step back to me. One of the coolest things about the E89 is the hard top and how it packs away into the trunk. The E85 had soft top issues and if any water got down near the motor, it would fail.

It is a personal preference thing, but I prefer the E89 to this. That Porsche looks sweet I have to admit
