Folks on a German z4 forum report now OTA software updates coming through. Let's see when it is our turn in the U.S.

There are now OTA updates rolling out in the U.S. for G models (X5 / G20).

Any U.S. G29 owner can confirm OTA update yet?

I got a new OTA update today on a g29 30i here in Spain
Car was produced February 2020.

Will check when I am in the car next time. I have a very recent software version, so it may not prompt me to update even if it is working now in the US.

My phone app hasn't connected to the car for almost a month now <sigh>

Our z4 m40i (located in Hungary/EU) had OTA update a few weeks ago. Latest version VIA OTA is: 11/2019.70
This version, which was offered by OTA is far from the last version, which is available via ISTA/P, ISTA/NEXT, but better than nothing.

Does somebody has any experince regarding OTA update, that only NBT is updated or other units (like ECU) will be updated?

Mine updated a last week. It was pretty painless. It started to slowly update in the car while I was driving then I saw a note that I could download the update to the phone, then connect the phone to the car via WiFi to update the car. I now see the Spotify app in the Media menu.

I asked because I yet have to encounter a Z4 getting OTA in the U.S.
Supposedly in waves depending on the VIN across all iDrive 7 Gxx models.

You aren't missing anything

It makes me wonder how I'm supposed to update my X3 M40i (or know when an update is available) since it doesn't even have OTA support.

Got an OTA update today. What is the menu to see what the number is? 19-11?

Got the update notice and did it today, 7/2019.39 to 11/2019.70.

Says its supposed to have a checkbox to turn on tail lights with daytime running lights - dont see that.

Says spotify is supposed to be there - dont see that

Changed a bunch of settings around, most notably shut off the A/C in CC menu.

Was painfully slow to download until I used the phone, 949MB it said. Car has to be parked for 20 minutes after it finishes downloading to do the update. Maybe after a couple drive cycles spotify will show up, dont really care just curious the two things that I should see are not there.

Also says it enables the system so you can buy a dash cam upgrade.

Not sure what other systems the update affected, lots of noises while it was updating when parked. I'm glad they got OTA working, just dont know if it changed anything besides the version number in the display

Must have been other updates as I always had Spotify. Had to reset some stuff will see if in messed with my coding tonight.

My car was built in march '19 and didnt have spotify. Spotify did show up after a drive today. But the DRL tail light thing did not, most likely that isnt for G29s and just a generic description for the update. Might be option dependent too.

I had no issues with anything really since I bought it, but the remote app quit working a week or so ago (it was updated 6/8) and now its working again. Might just be a coincidence.

Yeah mine was a 1/2020 build. Did not expect the update & did not see the Rear DRL when I looked today. Still don't know what menu the version number is on.

Going to put my coder on it tomorrow & see what else is out there.

I am not clear what logic the roll-out follows. If it were VIN,then earlier cars would get the OTA earlier, but that does not seem to the case as one poster with a 1/20 production date already got an update, while earlier cars (incl. my 4/19) had none yet.
I am keen on getting the 2019/11.70 update, as supposedly it fixes the phone overheating in the wireless charger.

I got mine on 02-20-20 and I already had a 2019/11.70 OTA update a week ago. I still have iphone 11 pro overheating issues after the update. Didn't notice any change in idrive.

Agree have 19/11 from 40 to 70 as of two days ago & the phone still gets hot. Wonder what hot means when they refer to it because anytime you charge a battery it warms up.

It’s General Settings, Remote Software Upgrade under Other - it will display the installed version on the right half of the screen. (I forgot how you get to General Settings exactly - I think it’s Car, General Settings or similar.)

Thanks hunted around & found it on the settings page, software update line. I am at 11/19 - 70
