2 lbs +. Is the a joke? Does anyone really give a shit? Want to save 2 lbs, but a 1.575 less quarts of gas in the car.

The bolt head is actually a 6 pointed star bold, but I used an 11 mm box end wrench on mine and it worked just fine.

Did it today. For those of you obsessed with weight, I'm including weight pics (both imperial and metric so nobody has to use unit converter )
Also, painted the bolts.

If I was worried about weight, I’d go on a diet. Gonna get the BMS for mine

Wow 2 lbs. Well the weight gain is offset by the stiffer and more robust braces. Fair trade-off in my opinion.

Just painted mine black to match the rest on the compartment. Now when you open the hood they just fade in with the rest and I already had the paint (cheap)

Good morning all. I have a dumb question. What is the point of replacing these and what will I gain - other than 2 pounds - haha, could not resist that one. I am just curious. I am still lurking around here and hope to order my Z4 after the new house closes, but of course, I am already thinking of what I could/should do to her when I get her. Thank you in advance.

It is aesthetically pleasing when you pop the hood, other than that not much. Maybe some extra stabilization to the chassis.

Thank you Westside Guy and getbfuller for your answers. I saw the explanations of the replacements being better looking and more aesthetically pleasing, I just wasn't sure if that was the only reason, or if there truly would be a benefit to the car (other than looks).
I appreciate your quick responses. |
