Wink any suggestion for air filter choices? I failed in gambling...

I bought the mann air filter model c28038 which is fit for 540 740 x3&x4 m40i, but unluckly doesn't fit for z4 m40i.
The official website of mann also left blank about the air filter of z4 g29 m40i.

It's way bigger than the stock one and in wrong direction

I ordered an air filter for the Supra and it dropped right in. Believe it's a K&N

So you bought an air filter that's meant for another car and are surprised that it doesn't fit in a G29?

It was assumed that the air boxes on all of the B58 motors were identical so purchasing a filter for another B58 engine should hypothetically work.

Unfortunately, unconsidered variables caused the hypothesis to be incorrect, thus an incorrect air filter was purchased.

I similarly did the same thing by purchasing a filter for the A90 Supra when it wasn't listed for the G29 Z4. Thankfully, mine did fit because I thought of those variable that a different chassis could have a different filter.

OP made an honest mistake. Posting with the sole intention of belittling other members of the forum is Might I suggest instead of shaming others, be supportive and helpful. What you said is absolutely what I thought...I really appreciate it.
I found the sku of K&N air filter is 33-3136.
I'm curious about how durable it will be because of the "10 year guarantee". Will you wash it by water(which is way I googled how to clean it) or just throw it away...

While they’re washable, they’re also relatively cheap. The filter cleaning kit is $15 from K&N and has a detergent to clean the filter, and then an oil to reapply to the filter. The filter itself is next to useless without the oil. So while it is serviceable, for me it’s not worth my time and effort to clean the filter, re apply oil, etc. I’ll probably just buy a new one when it comes time. I’d rather have one brand new instead of one I believe to have cleaned and oiled correctly protecting my $10-20k engine.

Agree that time is way more precious.
I also found that there're chances to pollute some sensors by the "oil". I won't risk that.

K&N filters have proven to filter poorly in the past.....coupled with reports of fouled sensors, etc. I'd never use one, particularly not on a forced induction motor. This was a well known issue on the turbodiesel forum I used to frequent. My advice would be to stick with stock or a least a stock type filter.

2 cents,
Dave

The K&N is a stock type filter that drops into the factory box. Not their CAI (I don’t think they make one for the G29/A90).

I know but it's still the oiled gauze type filter that all K&N's are, I believe.
