If I can get a 2010 GT3 next summer/fall for 85k (I'd stretch my budget for one) that is definitely what I'm going to get. The only reason the GT3 isn't at the top of my list is because I don't really like the 997.1 GT3's that much. This is doubtful though.

again, I'm not going to be DAILY driving it, but I will be driving it at least 3-4 days a week (so I guess semi-daily driving). I have a 2011 mini cooper s and a 2011 chevy suburban. so this would be my fun car.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions btw. You're making it pretty hard for me, but it actually is helping a lot.

85k for 2010 gt3 seems optimistic, even in a year. 2007 models are still at 75k, no?

how about something like a 2009 911S PDK?

Or a 996 GT2?

this is actually exactly what i've been thinking lately.. I just need to hope they depreciate fast lol

Yea very optimistic, but you never know.. remember the next gen 911 is coming out next year which will really hit the 997's.

I wouldn't want to get into a 996. Too old.. I've thought about a 911S PDK, but they aren't really unique enough for me. They look pretty much like a 911 carrera and there's a million of those.

I'd suggest the C63...if you look at my posting history you'll find that I kind of have a serious thing for the new coupe coming out. That would be my choice, but that's just me.
yea the c63 is looking pretty nice imo. you can't really beat a 6.3L v8 with 481hp stock in a coupe. ESP since everyone is going Forced Induction and it is probably the last of its kind..

Lol yeah really. It's essentially a Sport Classic but without the Fuchs and half the price. I really want one.

^Honestly, we have a '10 C4S with PDK and I find it disappointing. The engine really just doesn't do anything for me. We had an 04 and then an 07 GT3 and they were infinitely more fun to drive than the C4S. I don't know if it's just the combo of this engine and the PDK, but it's just kinda boring. I haven't driven a GTS, but it's the same engine, so I might be making assumptions, but the PDK with the 3.8 just isn't very exciting.

Not to nitpick, but considering an '08, a 3 year old model currently, is still worth $90K it is very unlikely that a 2 year old '10 GT3 will be there next summer. I actually think $105K is a pretty good deal right now considering how they're priced up here.

Fwiw, I fully agree that it would be worth stretching the the budget slightly to buy the car that you really want.

The GTS is rwd and has a 20hp bump over the S. The former will make it much more fun to drive and the latter will make it a bit faster. My father's good friend is a Porsche nut (collects everything from CGTs to 935 racers to vintage speedsters and restores 911 SC's and older for fun and even owned and raced a GT3 Cup in Grand Am) and the guy uses a GTS as his DD. Last time I saw him, he raved about how perfectly it met the need for people who loved the C2S but wanted a bit more. Pretty sure he has over 10K miles on it by now.

08 911 Turbo = Too easy to get into trouble.

10 997.2 GT3 = Are you going to track it?

11 997.2 GTS = My choice. Not too lowered / track-oriented but still good

GT-R = Don't commute on this machine.

M3 = A dime a dozen 3 series. Not that unique for your budget.

C63 coupe = Never buy first-year products... Plus, again, not that unique.

12 Boxter = Too much of a chick's car. Can't stomach the exterior regardless of how neutral-handling it is.

this much i can say... the 997.2 is fantastic .. the only thing i like mor is my 430, and was my Ford GT,,,, i took it drove it on dates etc.. ran it to VIR off the show room floor and ran 2:05's-2:06's .. thats pretty dam fast if you havent been there..
I had 2 997 TT's... heavy lame feeling cars .. pretty fast.. but need exhaust mods to get and sound from them.. I lost interest in them very quickly...

my 997 gt2 was a blast but out of your range for the next 8 yrs

My 996 GT2 was the 2nd best track car i have had.. but by no means a car to drive around!!!! lol

all 911's are great cars .. just dont drive a 997.2 GT3 and you wont notice how much better they are!! lol

I am not a fan of the GTs over priced made to sell off inventory of parts ..lol i dont think worth the money....

the best bang for buck next summer will be a ZR1.. im not a big corvette fan but an awesome car for the money...

Garage List
2006 Volvo V70R  [10.00]
2007 BMW 335i  [10.00]
Since the list provided has been discussed at length, here are few others that may be close to your criteria.

I suppose since you ruled out an Aston, you probably wouldn't want a Jag XKR, but they are pretty sexy looking. And in the XKR (or especially the new XKR-S) guise, they are fairly unique looking. Interior would be great, but they may seems a bit like an older-person's car.

Another idea would be the Lotus Evora (also an "S" version coming). Certainly unique though doesn't have the all-out speed that you seem to be wanting.
http://www.caranddriver.com/features..._class_page_4#

Or perhaps a CTS-V coupe?

Of course the Z06 kills them in track performance...

You're probably not this crazy, but a Tesla roadster would certainly be unique:

My vote would be for the new C63 coupe. Definitely a head turner as it's going to be the new car on the streets, plus you can hit those low 12's stock.

great points! I definitely think the GTS is what I want, but it really all depends on how much they are going for next year.

yea it really isn't a first year product. I think this is my first backup after the '12 GTS, '12 GT-R, '10 GT3.

Thanks for the help! Its definitely great to hear from someone that has had it all, porsche wise lol. I doubt the 997.2 gt3 will be in my price range, but I may hold out until the beginning of 2013 for one if that'll help. Because all I've heard was really great reviews about them. And I plan on heading to the track more often in the next few years.

all great suggestions. Z06 is great but the interior is lacking for me, I don't like the CTS-V's styling, I'm not crazy enough for the Telsa lol, I am really not a fan of Jag's and they do look like old people cars, BUT I didn't think about the evora. I'll definitely look into that actually!

Thanks!

just checked out the evora and saw this: "Driving the Evora's rear wheels is the same engine that's in the Toyota Camry."

THAT is definitely a deal breaker for me!

911tt, or GT3, or Audi R8 (I don't care for the looks of them, but many seem to like them, and the V-8 shouldn't give you much trouble)
