BBS CH-R Crack or coating defect?

As per the thread's title... What do you guys think? Rims are original and brand new, some 500 miles smooth highway driving on them. I only noticed today haven't really inspected them thoroughly upon delivery. Your thoughts?

As said above paint run or a casting error, points to lack of quality control at the factory.

You bought these new?
If it was me, I wouldn't find it acceptable from someone like BBS.
Yes it looks like a run , but it may not be.

I too tend to believe it's enamel run (surprised given the finish on the wheels is otherwise immaculate) mostly because my experience with cracks is they tend to develop transversely. Plus their use so far is far from abusive. I do believe taking the wheel off wont show anything otherwise it wouldn't be holding pressure. However I already emailed the retailer to sort a replacement anyways.

Those look like fake CH-R's to me. Which would explain the poor quality.

Real CHR's have a little hole between the lug holes and that lettering looks tiny.

Mine are 18' FYI. If not mistaken the small holes between lug holes is a thing of 19' and above.

Nope, even some 18" BBS CHR's I have seen have the little holes.

Like these 18's

I could be wrong but I have owned BBS in the past, your wheels look a little janky to me. But if you have the BBS cast into the face of the wheel then they are probably real.

CHR-132 BPO my variant as per the US site chart. There should be an explanation behind the small holes between lug holes. My hair like defect introduced above is about the only challenge I can get right now though.

I only bring it it up because I have seen guys buy what they thought were real wheels only to found out they bought fakes. I even know vendors who unknowingly got fake stuff. It's a real problem.

But if you are certain then I would definitely contact BBS. I have dealt with Mackin/Rays on a set of Volks I owned that got stained by a chemical and they were great at repairing them for next to nothing. It took a while but they came back perfect.

You are right... The CH-Rs are among the most replicated BBS wheels. Buying from reputed and verified retailers increases safety. I have already emailed BBS directly regarding my issue. I will update this thread once they get back to me. Thanks

Ok, so my issue is not sorted yet as I am still away on vacation I have sent a couple of emails though and received responses from both BBS and the reseller. I am updating the thread as promised:

Dear Mr. Z.....,

thank you for your inquiry.

The small holes are measurement points - some of the CH-R designs are with these points and some of them not.
Could you please let me know the exact wheel types, then I can check our drawings to be sure.

It seems that this is a paint defect, when have you bought the wheels?

Kind regards / Mit freundlichen Grüßen

i. A. Melanie K.........,
Vertrieb Aftermarket

BBS GmbH
.....

Hi Sorry for the lack of info but We have forwarded the pictures to BBS but they say that the wheel has to be returned for inspection.

They said it does look like it is just under the paint and as you say could be a ripple in the base layer paint so should have no detrimental effect to the strength of the wheel.

You do have a full warranty with the wheel so there should be no problem if anything happens.

Please advise how you would like to proceed.

Regards D....

Damn Europeans, always on vacation, J/K

Communication is good. I hope they get you sorted. Sounds like the process may take a while though.

BTW, I spent time in Thessaloniki and other parts of Greece in the 90's, great place, one of my favs.

Truth be told... It's quite a euro thing although mine was the first in two years straight so no BBS paint ripple would stand in the way!
