Issues to be aware of

While having my oil changed, during our stop Loveland, Colorado, moisture was detected around the transmission pan on our G29 (M40I). Turns out that the right rear transmission output shaft seal was leaking around the bolts. Easy fix, removed, cleaned and reinstalled bolts with liquid flange sealant L-243. I believe this is a common situation because BMWNA quickly diagnosed the problem and had a solution at hand. It is easily confused with a leaking transmission pan seal.
One other caution when the tech is changing your micro-filter. The fresh air flap can be misaligned causing a weak airflow situation while the A/C is on. I believe BMW Service Information Bulletin 34 02 21 covers this issue. Happy motoring!

Are you saying that the BMW service department and techs working on the car, were knowledgeable about problems, were aware of service issues with this particular vehicle, and were able to perform the jobs effectively and without any fuss?

Gotta say, I’m pleasantly shocked!

I have used one dealer for my BMWs since 2001 and have never had an issue with their service or the techs. Their shop foreman is the tech who worked on my cars from the beginning, their service manager was the previous shop foreman. Over time I have developed a solid relationship with them. I have tried independent shops, however their hourly rates aren't much less than the dealer and they are further away. I tend to avoid multi-line repair shops, too much generalization.
