Z4 Clone!!
A long while back there was a post of a Mercedes that looked a lot like a Z4! Well…. I went to Coffee and Cars and saw it in person! Have a look! Apparently they only come in AMG.

SL vs GT C Roadster
Sadly, and no matter how good it as as a more upscale/luxury oriented convertible, the new AMG SL lacks the street presence & menace of the AMG GT C Roadster (RIP).

I'm telling you the z4 has higher lateral acceleration than the g80/2 and all other m cars because it has perfect proportions. It handles so well, I doubt the sl could do the same but lets be honest no one buys the sl to do anything other than accelerate fast in a straight line on the highway once in a while. If there was a z4m, it would hands down be the BEST m car ever made. |

I’d like to say I’d ‘cross-shopped’ this while it was in preproduction, until I saw the price - ouch. I definitely wouldn’t kick it out of the garage…

In a review by our local Benz dealer they literally said the back seat is good for a purse or bag. 🤣
Great you posted this... I was thinking I saw a Benz that looked similar. |

I took a crap ton of great photos at this last meet. Got a chance to sit in a McLaren 720s as well. My son got invited for two! I had a conversation with the owner of this Mercedes as well and he did note the similarities to the G29 and was hoping I brought my own there. 3 hour drive and was with family so the only thing I had to show was my Crosstrek lol.

By the way. The z4 is already an extremely well handler and does 95-99% identical lateral g's to the m3/4/8 Was wondering, how can I transform the z4 into a z4m? I assume you know a lot about mods. I'm not talking intake/exhaust, or aero kits..but suspension work, without changing wheels (can add better or wider tires though), what mods do I need to get the Z4 to basically be a z4m and have m3/4 track performance? What do the M cars have that the non m lacks? Is it just suspension? I really want to make mind a track weapon and based on the width, length, height, wheelbase, and sitting position of the car, I have ZERO doubt if I tune it to 505hp like the m3 and add similar suspension tuning I'd smoke the m3/4 on the track. Just want to know what mods to add to make it happen, without resorting to aero atm or changing wheels (different tires and larger width are ok) Can you plz teach me intelligent ppl what mods there are? Also. I'm 100% sure I can use supra mods as well correct? |

My best friend ordered a MB SL 55 to be delivered to him in AZ. I'm flying out in late April to play some golf with him. He lives in AZ in the winter and CO in the summer, so I'll help him drive two cars (including the MB) back to CO. I'm looking forward to comparing the MB to my Z4 M40i. He also owns an older SL AMG that I've driven before that will smoke the Z in terms of pure power but such power comes at a hefty price.

that being said the engine of the M is a bit different, you'd have to look up the differences between the S58 and B58 engine. M cars also have better gearbox tuning and bigger brakes. I have no experience with this but stuff i would be looking at are probably : intake, exhaust/downpipe, turbo, engine tune, gearbox tune, wider tires, brakes, suspension, wing, ...

I just built and priced one of these Mercedes out... holy crap that price LOL! 179,000 USD. Sorry, but if I'm spending THAT kind of money, I'm definitely getting a C8 Z06, or high end M car.

LOL I thought that the car looked real nice in person. The "back seat" is nice for a little extra storage. Big ass screen was a little weird and out of place. However, in NO WAY did I think that this car was worth spending 178k for. no... not at all. Even the specs don't really add up to a price such as this. Especially comparatively to other cars that were there.

https://youtu.be/otLzzV1MuZg Personal view on a 500bhp powered Z4. With only RWD it would have even more difficulty against a AWD M3/4 than the base M3/4 RWD 473BHP already has. The Z4 M40i is pretty much in its sweet spot for all round performance now. For people who want a car that threads needles best buy is the Godzilla of the stock AutoX a Miata Club Last thing since the vid was made the CSL was released with 543BHP advertised but dynoed at 596 hp according to R&T

Mercedes announced a drastic reduction in their lineup over the next several years to focus on going up-market. That’s a shift from a decade ago when they were offering a car for everyone (remember the commercial for the A class- <$30k car)… and they already axed the SLK55 AMG a few years ago. So now there’s not much outside of the boxster that fits into the luxury roadster market at these prices, and it would be a loss for BMW if they choose to axe the Z after 2025. The SL55/63 is a competitive offering for buyers looking at Bentley and 911 Targa and Aston.

Yeah, wish they brought back the SLK/SLC. I always liked those. Plus IMO, we need more convertibles and fun cars and less SUVs!

I actually like it. Some styling...not so much, but on the whole it's nice. I like the color, too. Definitely has a British Roadster vibe to it (maybe the color as it seems to be a brighter BRG).
