Boxster GTS vs Z4 M40i
Porsche had awesome start and actually left the Z4 far behind, which really surprised me.

The Z4 has 25hp less and weighs about 600lbs more - not surprising result.

I thought Z4 has 382HP and Boxster 365HP? Weight dose make a difference, didn't know that was that much.

Euro spec Z4 M40i has 340hp and the Boxster was 365hp. Weight on the Z4 is 3400lbs and the Boxster is 2900lbs. Guess I was off on the weight.

I bet 382 HP would've made the run look much better and fair

I feel BMW dropped the ball in EU, should have matched the power in US regardless of emissions stuff. Pretty significant difference between Eu vs US

Not nearly as significant as the Eu vs US difference in the E36 M3!! It's just a chance for the US to get a better deal

If I'm not mistaken, the launch control on rear engine Porsche's uses an insanely high RPM and it actually sticks. Something like 6000 rpm. That also helps get an advantage...

Yep; predictable result, especially with the neutered euro version of the Z4......What they don't mention is that the Porsche costs twice as much! I don't get comparisons between vehicles with such a price point difference

Agree 100%. The Z4 owner can relax and laugh all the way to the bank, because that's where the Porsche owner is going in such a hurry to find out why has account balance is dropping so quickly.

Thanks guys. I love the Boxster and I really wanted one......I liked everything about them except the price and the 4 cyl engine. The price difference between my fully loaded Z4 M40i and the Boxster S (not GTS!) I test drove was $91,500 CAN vs. $129,360 CAN......
...even with that truly massive price premium, I'd have considered getting one if it came with a 375+hp 6 cyl instead of the 4......now the Spyder and Cayman GT4 are coming with a 6 but I can't even imagine how much more those will cost. Dave |
