Why didn't BMW put a special rear badge on the Z4's that have the 6MT?

Cars with the Handschalter package could have a rear badge that says M40iH or M40iHS.

Wasn't the black and chrome badging on the manual enough?

M40iH sounds like nomenclature reserved for hybrids...

According to BMW, this is a special edition so IMHO there should be special badging.

If you don’t like M40iH how about M40iHS?

While I do not have one yet (still in Austria), I would prefer not to have anymore letters/numbers on badge.

Is it though? Technically it's just an option package on the M40i

In the initial news release from BMW that announced the “Handschalter” option the copy refers to this as a special edition.

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/a...6-speed-manual

Where you find the additional packages on the website it is called “Edition Handschalter”.

Those are not the gloss black. Look again at the edges compared to yours.

I see that the edges are different but the average person viewing the Z4 from the rear wouldn’t see any difference. This is why I suggested a slightly different rear badge such as M40iH or M40iHS for this “special edition” model.

they did. Its called Sanremo green . Can only get this color with the 6MT. Also I agree that the badging already has too many letters and numbers.

Yes there are 2 greens that are exclusive to the 6MT but what about all of the other colors?

Based on the many posts I have read in various Bimmerpost forums I believe that debadging is far more common in Europe than in the US.

Yes, when you have a tiny detuned 4 cylinder 20i, it makes sense. We get the top end of the range here even with the stronger 4 banger

No matter what the size of the engine is, I personally like rear badges if they are done tastefully. 👍🏻
