I was personally disillusioned in Lewis having Driver of the Day at the BGP winning with a dangerous component in the form of a punctured tyre. It sends out the wrong message from the FIA's Action for Road Safety campaign I've mentioned before looking at the death and injury rate from road accidents and others around the world to which the campaign is mated to.
This would naturally apply to any driver who would win in a similar fashion.

It's looking good for Max by the minute.
My friend :

The latest : This morning Horner started an investigation regarding the Mercs performance .
He said : 1.2/1.5 sec. a lap faster , is just not normal . We have to know from where the Mercs get the immense power !

Flavio Briatore : 2 cars run 20 km/h faster , and after 3 laps the race is already over .
It's great to see MAX in action and to see him pushing the RB16 beyond the limits .
MAX is the F1-Gladiator . Without him , F1 is no race anymore !

Yeah my friend : Knowing that the temps for next weekend will be hot , and Pirelli comes with a softer rubber compound . The Mercs must go for 3 pitstops . Think MAX can do it with 2 .
So yeah . There is a little chance for MAX

As I have said my friend depending on the circumstances and the stewards using their 'common sense' with regard to the risks involved to the driver and others. They are the experts rather than the 'baying for blood' media which does seem prevalent at first.
Safety must be paramount over everything else, after all it does say on all the front wings.

seems like there ll be some curb changes this week..

"A number of drivers also reported cuts in their tyres following Friday’s practice running, which Pirelli F1 boss Mario Isola said could have been caused by debris getting caught at the Chapel kerb.

“Probably some of the cuts we found on Friday were caused by the fact that some debris was trapped in the kerb, causing some cuts in the tyres,” Isola said.

“They are working around that and it's a good action, it's a good idea to have this small modification that is helping this situation.”

its the very same spot where Vettel dug a hole by falling into grass many times.. seems like got worse during the race from other drivers as well..

Ocon “I don’t know if it came from the carbon debris or just the track being very hard with the tyres or the new cars running wider than I was used to in 2018.

“But we’ve seen more damage and more cut to the tyres than we have ever seen.”

Remember Jacque Villeneuve losing control and marshal fatality?
Just take a look at the video of the Gilles Villeneuve 2 wheel antics at Zandvoort.
That was insanely dangerous. The Ferrari creeping back with other cars approaching at full speed. Remember, in those days signalling was limited with no radio comms and the cars were still death traps. Plus sections of the track are quite hilly and you can't see shit what's beyond the corner.

In fact, a similar situation (full speed car catching a slower car right after the corner) is what Gilles got killed 3 years later.

Looking at those vids sends a shudder through me with their uprotected necks and no halo's then thank goodness we've moved on to see the safety features up to date now.

Agreed. The vid of Gilles' fatal crash at Zolder sums it all up really. Horrible.
The same year young lad Paletti also died and Gilles' teammate Pironi suffered career ending injuries.

Yes though in the case of Didier Pironi it was in a power boat? off the Southampton port caught out by a huge wave wash from a tanker...some had a poor view of safety then and lived and still live dangerously even off the track.
Look, even recently now Andrea de Cesaris (yellow wheels) killed on a motorbike in Rome...

Yes, Pironi was tragically killed in a powerboat accident a few years later. But he had the career ending horrific crash in the German GP qualifying. A few weeks after Gilles' fatal crash while leading the WDC.
One of F1 and the Scuderia's darkest seasons...

Gilles' crash was just non-believable with how it happened and with the way the car just came apart with even the fuel tank separating? Now look at Schumi's position, ok skiing can catch anyone out,I've done it myself also (Avoriaz last time) but always kept to the flagged routes, his football and love for motorbike riding are all extra risks.
Now even Lewis's love for motorbikes has got me worried even though I'm not a fan of his.

No wonder the sidewalls don't collapse onto the rims with a puncture, had a close look at Bottas's puncture and there are flat steel? channels on the inside of the tyre going from rim end to where tread begins and the sidewall is GLUED onto the rim.The inside of tyre seems to be filled with cords and channels going across the tyre.
