I like my wireless charger. Granted, during the summer and using Carplay with Waze and Apple Music, it's pretty worthless but, in a pinch, I can turn off Carplay, still listen to my music and use the built-in maps and the wireless charger will at least maintain the iPhone's battery state. $500 is a large ask but for $200 I'd do it again.

Vernasca isn't crap, per se. It's extremely durable, and it's smoother in texture than Dakota. I liked the Dakota better IIRC. Definitely a big step below nappa and merino. I think the leather is one of the let-downs of the Z4 unless you're going to keep it long-term, but I don't think it would prevent me from buying it (oh wait, it didn't!).

Not sure why 18" would be a desirable standard option but you could always get a set of winters or A/S

It works ok in our cars unless using CarPlay or WiFi hotspot. So usually my wife will use to charge her phone and I’ll plug in USB-C as I’m doing the heavy data.

I had it on a 2021 M340i, and it was awful. The one on my Z4 (2023) is better. Still not great, but it does at least hold it at a steady percentage.

Correct. My wife’s X3 doesn’t have the wireless charging, my Z4 does. Look the exact same, except there’s a battery icon with a lightning bolt on mine. Hers just has the NFC symbol for the digital key.

Does the z4 come with a NFC Key card to start the engine if you don't have the key fob?

Yeah. I have the credit card looking key plus you can add it to your phone.

The manual M3’s have the phone charger in the center console where it is stored vertically with a clip to hold it in place (comp/auto is in the same spot as the Z although IIRC it’s situated longitudinally - left to right), which is more optimal so it doesn’t move around. But beware you forget about it and cook your phone! Wonder if the handschalter follows suit?

It's the one where you tap your phone near the door and in the center console reader, not the one based on proximity alone.

No I know. I was promised this feature in my 2020 x5 as a future upgrade but then they claimed they didn’t put in the correct hardware so we never had this feature. Still nice to have. Thanks for the info!

This probably won’t work if you plan on getting the manual. It didn’t work with my M2.

Why wouldn’t this work with the manual? That seems like an odd omission.

Edit: My apologies, you’re correct. Looks like it’s the same with the M3/4 manuals. No digital key. That’s such a weird thing to omit.
