Everyone needs a hobby, I guess (re: ‘Why?’). I admire the effort if not the end result. And I greatly prefer this to the diesel truck guys efforts to make their trucks more trucky (read: obnoxious) - at least as long as they’re not slowing traffic to creep over road irregularities in their low-riders.
There’s a car audio place not too far from me and that earlier pic post has inspired me to ask them next week to ballpark a quote for a trunk mounted sub & amp to integrate with the HK. I’ve been on the fence about sacrificing trunk space, but it’s not my daily driver and as long as I can put two carry-on size bags and some soft luggage back there, it will work for me. |

Have you tried adjusting the fader toward the back of the car?

Unless I am always driving through mud, I wouldn't add them, but its your car and if you like them, do it.

Have you noticed how things are back to civilized conversation since pinkman got banned?

Hadn't messed with the fader control since I first got the car. Played with it a bit yesterday, by shifting the locus of sound back a little bit, but the bass is still lacking.
It's less noticeable with rock music, but EDM and other modern music like to play at frequencies below the 80-120Hz range (guessing) where the Z4's subs are probably most comfortable. There's also a fair bit of resonance and bass bloom on account of the small subs and lack of adequate structural damping. Also, there's no real sense of felt bass unless excepting instances of unwanted resonance vibrating the car body. Gonna need a new sub to fix that. |

Haven't spent enough time with this HK to know my real preference. The standard system does a very decent job filling the cabin with undistorted sound. I can feel the bass when set to full volume, fader & bass a bit to the right of center. More would be nice but I'm sufficiently content without changes.

For some music, the HK sounds fine. Don't recall what it was offhand (I think I commented in another post at the time), but I was listening to sort of guitar/vocal track and the mid-range and treble frequencies sounded stellar.
A little spoiled re: my sound preferences since I listen to a lot of music using headphones, which tend to match well against preferred sound target profiles for very low cost. And during the pandemic, I 'beautified' a couple of home systems with subwoofers because, well, because it was the pandemic and I was streaming a lot of movies and music at home and wanted a more cinematic audio experience.
