What have you coded with BimmerCode?

To bide the time until I take delivery of my new Z4, I have been thinking about all the coding things I can do with Bimmercode. Here is the list I came up with:

Bowers Wilkins sound settings (active)

Brake force display (medium braking) - is this already enabled on a US spec car?

Tire pressure control (display temp and pressure) - Is this already enabled on a US spec car?

Window lifter interruption when opening door. (Not active)

Startup mode (sport individual)

Automatic mirror tilt value (what value should I choose?)

One touch turn signal 5 times (active)

Initial seatbelt reminder after start (not active)

Seatbelt indicator passenger (not active)

Seatbelt indicator driver (not active)

Sport display (g-meter, torque, oil temperature, boost pressure) - Is this already enabled on a US spec?

Warning at startup (not active)

Camera warning (not active) - Is this already disabled on a US spec car?

Am I missing anything? 😀

Red ambient lights with blue map and pedal area lights
M drift analyzer (haven't tried it)
Putting the M digital dash automatically ruins the Hud rev counter and I rather use that then look down. I don't think I need the M track module either because hud>>looking at dash.
I coded Alpina and it looks good but I honestly prefer the original look.
Coded in bmw I chime
Video in motion

Lots of info here - www.bimmercode.app

You will need the app as well as a dongle for the OBD II port.

Bimmercode has a list of changes you can make easily from the app without coding. The pro section is where you go to make changes by coding.

You'll probably want to either turn off the AUTO START STOP function or turn on memory so it remembers what state it was in when you last turned off the car.

Yeah thing like heat ranges for the 123 seat buttons (you can make the temperature different in the seat back & bottom, Auto stop start kill, running light brightness, beeps on locking, rain sensor sensitivity, Auto mirror fold, start up animation, Video in motion, a lot of choices on interior/exterior lights.

New stuff turns up on occasion. Interesting thing to play with.

The first action on my new 2023 M40i is connecting the CX ODB dongle as suggested at BimmerCode for all functions for my car. Connects just fine but the majority of the functionality isn't even showing up. No driving mode that can be set for example, anyone know if things changed on 2023? On bimmer-code it says available for 2018+ but seems like lots of coding options are missing

Have not been able to get this to work on the Z4. Let me know how you make out. Have been successful with this on other BMW's.

The issue is that with the current SW release BMW has modified the code and the ASS Memory won’t work. BimmerCode says they are trying to find a fix.

Be sure to enable Diagnostic Mode by pressing Start 3 times without stepping on the brake. That ensures all modules are powered up. If you don’t, modules that aren’t needed are powered down to save energy.

So, when I connected the Bimmercode app on my tablet to the OBD dongle my car immediately went into diagnostic mode. Never seen that before. I hadn't even pressed the start button.

Recently got a z4 and was curious if I’d be able to use Bimmer code across multiple vehicles. I’ve also got a 440i that I used it on.

Do I need a separate license or does the one license work across multiple VIN numbers?

Thanks!

You can use it on any number of vehicles as long as you have a compatible dongle. Most people have both BimmerCode and BimmerLink. BimmerCode is just for coding options. BimmerLink lets you read and clear trouble codes. It also registers batteries (but if you change type/size, you have to code that first) and resets maintenance items.

I have an OBDLink dongle. It also comes with an OBDLink app that will do generic OBD functions on most cars (depending on which dongle you have.)

Probably the only thing I'd really wanna do is change the interior lighting color. Kinda crazy that colors like RED aren't just a default color.

Awesome thanks for the response. I have the MHD dongle from my 440i that I believe would work. I’ve not downloaded Bimmer link as the MHD software can do what I believe is the same. But don’t have MHD for the Z4. Will play around with it and see if it’s needed. Don’t plan to tune the Z4 just yet as it’s under warranty still.
