Frozen colors are pretty to look at but I often question why you just don’t purchase a PPF like Xpel Stealth and achieve that same frozen look on any metallic color offered for your particular model. 😉
IMHO, colors like Portimao blue, SSG or BSM would look awesome with a stealth, matte type PPF. 👍🏻 |

The sales guy at the BMW dealership said not to get the frozen colors because of added upkeep, but to instead get a satin ppf wrap for the same affect. I asked the price of the wrap and he said
$6,000-7000!!! I guess I don’t really “get “ wrapping the whole car unless it’s a one of a kind car or super special or if the owner has OCD issues - not knocking the latter. I would think that the amount of money spent on wrapping once or twice over 10+ years wouldn’t be worth it in terms of increased value if it’s sold in the future. Maybe it’s just me but normal cosmetic wear and tear doesn’t bother me. I only care about the overall aesthetic of the car and the mechanical bits. I think the frozen colors are great. The San Remo green X3 that I saw on the dealer lot was so dark and reflected mostly black with green only where light reflected directly back to you. I would like to see it in frozen. The frozen grey cars on the lot looked great when contrasted with black. |

Just remember that BMW doesn’t sell touchup paint kits for their frozen colors and their paint is notorious for being soft.

Never wrap - but than I also never use a phone case.
It’s meant to be used. And honestly I think you loose some of the shine with a wrap, and you can never really enjoy the full beauty of the car. Reminds me of people that kept their sofa wrapped as long as possible 😉 |

I take great care of mine, but yeah, $h!t happens. I won't disregard a huge scrape or dent but the occasional rock chip and such comes with ownership. |

Luckily PDR was able to fix dent and made it completely unnoticeable except for the paint gouge. Some touch up and it was almost back to like new condition. A driven car will develop cosmetic imperfections, enjoy the ride and try not too stess too much lol. |

I like the frozen colors on sedans, but not my sporty cars.
I would agree that unless you are a hand wash only kind of guy, ppf guy with ceramic coating don’t get the frozen paint. Total PITA to keep looking good. If you think swirl marks are bad on metallic paint get ready for how awful swirls and nics look on frozen paint. The best option IMHO is to get the metallic color and wrap the whole car in matte PPF. Yes, it is costly, but you end up with more optionality while protecting the finish. Start off with the matte PPF for the frozen look and after a few years take it off and enjoy the full metallic look. The other huge benefit to PPF for me is that it makes washing the car much easier for two bucket hand washing OCD types like me since you don’t have to worry about scratching the paint. |

On another note, do the F8x wheels fit the Z4 or is it the new generation wheels? |

Yes, that is full cognac leather. So many great combos it really is tough to decide. If I win the lottery I’ll buy three, maybe four! 😜. It’s funny, with the M2 there wasn’t anything to decide on. Paint colors weren’t inspiring and the interior, like you mentioned, was orange stitching or blue stitching with any color leather seats you wanted as long as it was black. It really only came down to tranny choice and moonroof or slick top. I believe you are out of luck on the wheel swap since all G platform cars are 5 bolts by 112mm while our F87s are 5x120mm. |

Here are some more of the color options. I like the cognac leather with all of them. Makes for a good contrast.

I've got Cognac on my Thundernight Z4. Love the look even if some people refer to it as PB&J.

If you select SRG you should also consider selecting the cognac option where the door panels and the center armrest match the seats. It really makes a difference and the interior will pop when you view the car when the top is lowered. 😎 |

You will notice how the green seems to have more metallic flakes and really pops in bright light. Then in cloudy situations it looks almost black. Very cool effect. It reminds me of my Hockenheim Silver which depending on the weather can look white, chalk grey or silver. |

Here is another pic under full sun from about 1.6 meters away. This shows how dark or almost black the green can look. It also shows Ho bright the blue is under full sun.
