Not exactly "cool" but my Dad had some odd second cars over the years. They were always inexpensive; a VW Beetle would have been an extravagance for him.

I believe when I was little he owned two Crosleys. Crosley was a Midwest auto manufacturer who made very small cars -- bordering on microcars -- in the 1940s and early 1950s. They were pretty conventional in terms of front engine, RWD -- just tiny. Curb weight somewhere in the 1200-1400 pound range. Four cylinder 724cc engine.

My memory is fuzzy on the body style; I think he had a wagon; bought used of course. Crosley went out of business in 1952.

In later years, he had a Morris, a couple of Fiat 600Ds and a Renault Dauphin. He never could stretch to get a VW. After he retired from the Navy in 1968 and became a cattle rancher he had a pickup, of course.

The Dual Cowl Phaetons that LeBaron built on Duesenberg J chassis are spectacular. Here are two -- take your choice of color!

Beautiful. Not a fan of the yellow wannabe Ferrari decal on the side. But, to each their own.

Thank you!

True, true. You bring a good point that I have heard before. The decal was there when I bought the car, and it haven't bothered me enough to remove it, yet.

Iirc alfas had the shield before Ferrari, he took it with him when he made his own racing company instead of simply being a driver for and later running Alfas racing team . I see the Alfa SUVs all the time and they all seem to have it.

But either way I think it looks good with and without.

Thanks for sharing the photos of your car. Did you take them on Skyline?

I once had a BMW 540 with M-tech package that I bought used. The original owner put an M license plate frame on it. I left it on and my BMW purist friends teased me about it. I was planning on removing it but never got around to it.

I've got no clue about Alfa Romeo badging and whether or not that shield is considered "proper" for your car. It doesn't matter. It looks great and you like it enough to leave it on. You'll just have listen to a$$hats like me comment that it looks like a Ferrari.

Enjoy your ride. More photos please....of the M3 too!!

U.S. luxury car manufacturer Marmon was known as a value leader in the luxury segment. In 1929 they introduced the Model 68 "Roosevelt" sedan (named for former president Theodore Roosevelt) for just $995; that was the least expensive car you could buy with a straight eight cylinder engine. While initially selling well, it was not enough and production of Marmon cars ceased in 1932, followed by the demise of the company.

I went to Skyline a few times but it doesn't have as many curves and they are too fast for pushing it there. I prefer Page Mill and then I continue to Arastradero. A perfect quick fun drive between meetings - it is not busy on weekdays and the few cars that are there often pull over and let me pass. I do see some nice cars there. A couple of times I ran into a group of classics - on the dashcam photos.

When I have more time I drive past Lick Observatory - that is where two of the photos in my previous post were taken. The last photo is from 236, also a fun road.

My M3 is in production right now, it will take a while before I can take any pictures.

You caught a beautiful early 60s Ferrari 250 in your dashcam. I cannot identify that other classic. Right hand steering. Anybody know what it is?

What a beauty. I was so into 50s cars as a kid, everything earlier just looked like old junk to me. Now, my appreciation for early cars has kicked in. I love the styling and the introduction of new technologies over time. We all have those days to thank for the awesome cars we get to drive today.

Here is a link to a Marmon that is/was for sale with some photos.
