Strongly Considering This to Replace Our X5
The upcoming new RR Sport to replace my wife's X5 xDrive 50i.
It is absolutely stunning inside and out and super modern with that traditional RR flair and flavor. I've seen a new 2023 HSE full size around my area in White with Black roof. Very nice but it's too large and I'm not too keen on the newly redesigned tail lights which are vertical strips. They hit it outta the park with this new Sport! Thoughts?

I'd have to see one in person and drive before giving an opinion on that model. We had a 2020 Velar and yes, a few step below, regardless I wasn't too impressed. Interior was okay, lacked features for that price point ($65k), especially compared to my Q7 (roomier, better overall quality), but was reliable for couple of years we had it. This would definitely be one of the models I'd consider. How does it compare to the X7 M60i?

This new Sport is completely redesigned ground up, inside and out. It's actually larger than the current Sport and X5. X7 is too large and the new iX and M60i are absolutely Fugly to us both. |

Ahhhh... But they do. They dropped the SVR nomenclature. And simply call it the "First Edition".
With the P530 first edition, you get a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 530 horsepower. With the launch control system, it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, which is similar in speed to the previous Range Rover Sport SVR. Even with 24 mpg, it is far more frugal than the outgoing model's V-8. An all-electric Range Rover Sport is also in the works and should debut in 2024. |

I couldn't get rid of my wife's 2019 RR Sport fast enough. Nothing but problems. Recurring problems with the air suspension causing nosedives, transmission causing strong vibrations (replaced), and loose trim rattles after only 20k miles. Very poor quality. Will never buy a RR product again.

I love it. X5 is a nice car but has almost completely lost its edge in driving dynamics and is more of a luxo barge now. X5 looks nice but is sorta common and doesn't have the sex appeal that the RR Sport does. The RR is something James Bond would drive. They really jacked up the price though.
Personally I really value a sporting driving feel so the Cayenne would be the only mid-size CUV I'd consider. But even then it is a bit common and ordinary looking. For all out sex appeal, the RR Sport is top dog.

The commonality of the X5 comes from its value prop in comparison to the Cayenne and RR which are obviously higher priced. And IMO the X5 is significantly superior to its direct competitor (GLE). So makes sense why it sells so well in its class.
I struggle with this a lot. The X5 (now X7 for me) is so good, I have a really hard justifying jumping up to a Cayenne/RR which, IMO you have to spend at least $20k-$30k more for it to be superior to either fully loaded X5/X7. I remember cross shopping the X5 back in 2019 - my fully loaded X5 was coming in at ~$82k, and an equally optioned (and still missing a couple options) Cayenne was ~$106k.
